Officer Punches Woman in the Face

Featured Replies

A couple of thoughts:

This was a jaywalking stop which doesn't help the cause.

I don't have a problem with the punch.

I do wonder why the officer didn't have backup with so many others around in a potentially bad situation. This could have gotten extremely ugly.

I would think by looking at the video that the officer needs some training in how to restrain. That woman should have been on the ground after about the third "get the (heck) off of me."

I have no issue at all with the officer punching that women. I hope both of those young ladies get the book thrown at them, but unfortunately that will probably not happen and the officer will probably get in my trouble.

I don't have a police etiquette background or anything, but at what point is he allowed to pull his gun in that situation?

Granted that might have made others pull theirs too, but I am just wondering.

I have to agree with all of the above. He should have put her down much more quickly and efficiently and should have had back up as well. I am a firm believer that you do what an officer tells you to do. Only problem I have is.....jay walking? Is this really what this was about?

It was a jaywalking violation. Do police officers really write tickets for that?

Definitely, especially in the city.

Thanks.

The news report I saw today said that he had already called for backup.

While I hate to see a 17 year old girl punched, ... I would NEVER think about putting my hands on a police officer like that. No way, no how. That is a position I respect and have problems relating to others who would not have a second thought about pushing a police officer like that. Just plain stupid IMHO.

I didn't listen to the audio but I would kick the you know what out of that officer if he worked for me. What a joke. Either pepper spray them or slam them. That would have been over in short order if it was me. Horrible...

This is on Fox News as we speak, and the officer is getting slammed. Both girls were released.

I read today that he has been taken off the street for some training. It was obvious he was in over his head.

Couldn't agree more. :thumb:

He handled that completely wrong. No way he should have struggled with her that long. Either tase her or spray her to get her into custody. It should have never got to the point of him having to swing on the other lady. He is lucky the folks watching didn't jump in. It could have been really bad for him.
