Track the Reds (Week 10)

Oh I know...but I would like to see Heisey start in place of Nix when Stubbs or Gomes takes a day off. Or I would rather see Heisey pinch hit than Nix. That is just my opinion.

Why so down on Nix? Didn't he have 3 hits in his start yesterday?

Okay, so we all know that we need some help in the bullpen right now. But, what is the answer?

Move someone up from the minors? From what I've think I've heard there isn't a lot down there to help. So, then do they trade for someone? If so, who are you okay with giving up?

Jared Burton is down there, but he still isn't 100%, and his numbers haven't been great. I think we'll see LeCure take a spot when Bailey comes back. I would give Maloney or Woods a shot in the pen. Volquez could help the pen come July.

Some things never change....The armchair managers are out in full force at first chance once again...

So what would you have done oh wise one?

It's not that I am so down on Nix. I just like Heisey more.

P.S. The missed catch that went over for a Grand Slam against the Braves still hurts me lol haha jk

You can't use Rhodes, Masset and Cordero every night. You have to go to the other guys every now and then, and hope they can get the job done. If they don't, then it's Walt's job to get somebody that can.

Exactly...

Walt, David Weathers is on line 2.

Keep him on hold and as far away from GABP as possible. The rocker suits him just fine.

But he used Rhodes in the 8th didn't he which means he was available. Why not the 7th?

Use him in the 7th and you are throwing a fit in the 8th when he isn't available. Pretty funny to watch unfold actually...

Exactly...

There is no question that they need some help in the pen but that was not the issue tonight. He planned on using Rhodes but why not in the 7th. Dusty has this fixation on when he uses pitchers and it apparently doesn't have anything to do with the situation but more the inning. It's usually Rhodes in the 7th, Massett in the 8th and Cordero in the 9th. You have to hold the game before you can win it.

I just say use him when you need him. Would you have used Herrera to face the 2 righties leading off the 7th?

The issue tonight started with Cueto throwing belt high meatballs that allowed the Giants hitters to get in a groove. The guys that pitched the 7th didn't get blasted, but a few soft liners that landed for hits piled up. I'll remember how high of a pedestal you hold Masset and Cordero next time they get roughed up...

He never uses Rhodes in the 8th, tonight he apparently had no choice. I would personally like to see Rhodes close more often with Coco pitching the way he has, but he will never do that because Coco is the "closer"!!

"The last thing you wanna do is kills Arthur Rhodes. You need some other guys to step up." Quote from Dusty.

They are going to end up needing him in about 200 innings this year with the way the season has gone. The plan tonight was to use him in the 8th if he had to be used at all. It didn't go as planned. On to the next one...
