June 8, 201016 yr Reds are going to have to try and trade for a bullpen guy in the near future. No question about it. Unless they break down and bring up chapman for the bullpen which I think would be a decent move.

Like it or not, the next best option from the pen is Herrera. You throw him, he's thrown 5 straight scoreless appearances, and hope the trend continues. Not sure what you're failing to grasp about that, seems easy enough to follow to me...

Just read a report that the White Sox have made Putz, Linebrink, and Jenks available....Putz would be ideal out of that group, but I'm not sure the Reds would be willing to give up what was necessary to get him.

Because if you want to hawk his stats, and I'm sure with your astute knowledge of them you already know the opponents BA against him, in the month of May he pitched 6 innings total and gave up 14 hits. If you have watched the games, and I assume you have, he no longer has his mystique of a dinky screwball. He can't consistently get major league hitters out. Not sure why that's hard to follow. He has to go if we are going to upgrade the bullpen. I agree that LeCure would be an upgrade when Homer returns.

Why not Micah Owings in that spot? He hadn't pitched since June 4th and right-handers are hitting .127 against him.

But if you don't absolutely have to use him last night, you don't.

Owings numbers are way better than Herrera's and he's been used to start an inning much more often. Herrera has been used as a situational pitcher. Owings had allowed 4 hits and 2 earned runs in his last 8 2/3 innings, all of his appearances were at least an inning.

There's just something about Owings that I don't trust. :idunno:

As far as giving up leads, I believe the Reds have overcome defecits in games many more times than they have blown leads late in games. I'd love to see them stay relevant well into August this season, giving us topic on which some on here have never had the pleasure of conversing. A penant race. Go Reds!
