Dixie's Pike top junior Qb in state?

Featured Replies

I was just making a point that they are not playin non playoff teams...thats all

You have a better chance of finding an eskimo in the desert than you will find a non-playoff team in Kentucky.

How did Zeke do at the Ohio camp? Really dont know if he went.

I just read an article that said Billy Menkhaus will challenge Pike for snaps under center.

Go to Tristatefootball.com it has the 5A preview.

It also states at the beginning of the paragraph that Dixie will look to quaterback Zeke Pike and runnigback Seth Bruns to provide offensive fire power. Billy Menkaus will challenge yes, only because you do not want anyone on your team to become complacent. When that happens they dont perform you need someone pushing you thats it.

Pike is good, but I vote on Towles. Patrick has been impressive not only at Highlands practices, but at numerous camps this summer. He has a core of WRs and RBs that also attended the camps who also put up some impressive numbers. Pat made them look real good and they made Pat look real good.

I thought I read that Pike has already been offered by several D1 schools. Has Towles gotten any offers yet?

Pike does have offers and I believe Towles does not but that could have changed, I read in an article that Joker really likes Towles.

I am curious to see how many of the schools that have offered Pike intend on him being a quarterback. This is a huge reson why Nichols didnt commit to UK before ND showed interest. Joker told him he would be on the line at UK and Im guessing since he is at ND now Kelly told him he would play TE. But in all honesty I would be shocked to see Nichols play TE for Notre Dame as well as I would be shocked to see Pike as a QB for a major division 1 team. He'd make one heck of a defensive end though.

Nichols knew for quite some time that his College position would be Tackle. He verbally committed to Stanford pretty early in the process as a Tackle. He is slotted, and will play tackle at ND.

As for Pike I am sure one of the reasons he has as many offers as he does is his ability to play a position other than QB in college, having said that though I believe most schools are recruiting him as a QB. The next 2 years will help determine what position Zeke plays at the next level.

Only time will tell but we will see how good Pike is game 5 of the season when the Bluebirds come into town. I wouldn't want to miss that game.

It will obviously be a tough test but it will have no impact on his recruiting.

It may not be a make or break game for him, but to say it will have no impact on his recruiting is a bit presumptuous. He will be playing against the most athletic team he plays all year, which will in my opinion provide at least a little insight on how he might perform at the next level at QB. I'll admit he's got a pretty good thing going if his first year on the field as quarterback against varsity competition has no impact on whether he's recruited as a quarterback or not. I'm sure Tony Pike would love to have that game against Florida back, as well as his agent.

College guys are not looking at stats. If so, lots of NKY qb's would be D1.

They're looking at a kid with great size and solid athletic ability that they can TEACH HOW to play qb and how to take advantage of his size and strength including his ability to zip a football. They know that a)Dixie is not nearly as good as HHS b)Dixie's o-line is not going to give Pike a lot of time and c)he's running a base offense.

They will look at intangibles like decision-making and , say, how he throws the out but his stats, good or bad, will not change WHAT they see as keys to being a potential D1 qb.
