Dixie's Pike top junior Qb in state?

Featured Replies

It will obviously be a tough test but it will have no impact on his recruiting.

It will have an impact just like every other game he plays in. Towles vs. Pike. It'll be most likely the biggest game up here this season. And you are sorely mistaken to think the outcome of this game will have no impact on either of the QB's in particular Pike because he will be playing against a much better defense then Towles.

If colleges looked at regular season games to decide on which players to recruit Zeke Pike would have no offers. Towles' offers, should they come, will come based on potential and how he does at camps. He could throw for 10 TDs against Dixie and it will not change who offers and who doesn't.

College guys are not looking at stats. If so, lots of NKY qb's would be D1.

They're looking at a kid with great size and solid athletic ability that they can TEACH HOW to play qb and how to take advantage of his size and strength including his ability to zip a football. They know that a)Dixie is not nearly as good as HHS b)Dixie's o-line is not going to give Pike a lot of time and c)he's running a base offense.

They will look at intangibles like decision-making and , say, how he throws the out but his stats, good or bad, will not change WHAT they see as keys to being a potential D1 qb.

College scouts definitely look at stats but they take many more things into account as well. My reasoning was you will get to see how Pike does against a very good defense, one with some division 1 players on it. Scouts will also see what kind of attitude he has if Highlands whips them 49 to 3.

Your correct because Dixie's defense was non existent last year and may be the same this year. Now say Towles were to do that in the state championship game or even in the Trinity scrimmage game coaches would definitely take notice because of the opponents he was playing against.

Brady Quinn was 8/30 for 75 yards against St X when he was in high school. He had a future NFL player named Ndukwe at WR.

How did that turn out for Quinn?

Your comparing Pike in high school to Brady Quinn in high school? Don't hold a kid who has never played a varsity down at QB on the same level as Notre Dame great Brady Quinn.

I guess this means Kramer from Campbell County will be over loaded with D-1 offers any day now. :p

I am sure I don't need to step into this argument for Clyde, but I will. You completely missed Clyde's point. The point was stats in a high school game have no impact on who gets a D1 scholarship. Quinn had horrible stats aginst a quality opponent and still got his D1 scholarship to ND. So if Pike goes 8/30 for 75 yards against Highlands it is not going to cost him a scholarship just like going 30/35 and 300 yards will not get him one.

You're the one that said his performance against an athletic team is going to have an impact on his recruiting. I pointed out a recruit that stunk it up against one of the top teams in Ohio. It had no impact.

I stated it will have some sort of impact yes. More then just his stats but also his attitude if and when they were to get beat. Quinn also played a lot better competition then Pike will play. Quinn probably had a 5 td game against a team from Cleveland just as good as St. X. Highlands will be the best team Dixie will face all year then there is a major drop off in competition. We'll just have to wait and see how the game/season goes.

Guess we get to see how good Pike is I know Simon Kenton plays 7 on 7 at Dixie July 13th 10 a.m. SK will get a few INT's!

Should be interesting to see how much that actually happens.

Geez...it's a 7on7...EXPECT QB's to throw picks...that's why it's called practice! Cincy X's Massa and Moeller's Hendrix both threw picks in 7on7's at Highlands last year...both got scholly's to the "Golden Dome". Air it out, bay-bee!

I do expect to QB's throw a int here or there. Do Highlands and Dixie have a 7 on 7? That'll be fun to watch!
