May 17, 201016 yr I'm shocked: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100516/ap_on_re_us/us_high_school_hazing Coach forces 8 players who struck out to drink soda from a teammate's used shoe...
May 17, 201016 yr Maybe I was a rebel, but in school I would've never done some of these crazy things that coaches, teachers have been forcing their kids to do.

May 17, 201016 yr From the article: The South Tahoe High School varsity players drank the soda at a team slumber party on May 1, hours after a game against Wooster High School of Reno, Nev. One question - what was the coach doing at the slumber party??? Sounds like it might be a case of the coach wanting to be more of a friend than an authority figure.
May 17, 201016 yr 20 years ago noone would have had a problem with this. I agree its idiotic to do it now in the current panic-stricken environment, but it does denote for me how much times have changed.
May 17, 201016 yr Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand what's so horrible about that. Disgusting? Absolutely, but nothing to cry or whine about.
May 17, 201016 yr Author If anyone ever forces my daugther to drink out of a used shoe, they'll be answering to me - and I won't be crying or whining.
May 17, 201016 yr If anyone ever forces my daugther to drink out of a used shoe, they'll be answering to me - and I won't be crying or whining. They'd just sue you, in this day and age it's what it's all about...
May 18, 201016 yr If anyone ever forces my daugther to drink out of a used shoe, they'll be answering to me - and I won't be crying or whining. The story made zero mention of the coach "forcing" anyone to do anything....Like I said, it's stupid, but what harm does it cause?
May 19, 201016 yr HAHA, drink this...........! HAHA, but coaches should not host slumber parties.....
May 19, 201016 yr Author The story made zero mention of the coach "forcing" anyone to do anything....Like I said, it's stupid, but what harm does it cause? Ah, you have your opinion and I have mind and that's just fine. Here is why I wouldn't want my kids drinking from a used shoe: The main thing that feeds foot smell is sweat. With more than 250,000 sweat glands each, your feet are among the most perspiring parts of the body. In one day, each foot can produce more than a pint of sweat! Sweat is basically just salt and water, though, so it doesn't have a distinctive smell of its own. The smell is actually caused by bacteria on our skin that eats the sweat and excretes waste that has a strong odor. It's perfectly normal to have bacteria on your skin, and it doesn't ordinarily produce a noticeable smell, but sweat attracts bacteria and gives them a whole lot to feed on. Of course we sweat all over -- our hands have a comparable number of sweat glands, for example -- and most of the rest of our body doesn't particularly stink (the armpits being a notable exception. So what's different about our feet? The answer is our socks and shoes. The sweat our feet excrete can't easily escape into the air like the sweat our hands excretes -- it all collects on our skin and in our socks. The bacteria love this dark, damp feast and have a sort of feeding frenzy. When you take off your shoes, the smell that hits you is all the bacteria excretion that's collected on your feet and in your socks and shoes. http://health.howstuffworks.com/skin-care/information/anatomy/question514.htm

Wow....................

You seriously want me to believe your reasoning for being up in arms over this is because of bacteria? I assume your daughter is not allowed to drink out of water fountains, and she never drinks out of the same glass/water bottle as another, right?
May 19, 201016 yr Author Are we really going to argue over drinking stuff out of a used shoe? I mean seriously... No, I don't want my kids drinking out of a shoe. I really don't want my kids having a slumber party with a high school coach, either. Both of those are major no-no's and I'd have somebody's head on a platter, either way.
