I worked with an Englishmen, and most of the time I was the only one who could understand what he was saying. "Profiling" just by how a person looks...ie skin color particularly is wrong IMO. If there are other associated facts that combine to create a "profile" then that is a different thing if it is in the interest of public safety...ie. airport security...the one-way ticket example. Which brings up an excellent point... we are fighting an enemy with no borders... no central command in a fixed nation that can be targeted on a map... soldiers without uniforms... without the morals that would prevent them from hiding behind women and children... without the morals to fight other skilled fighters, but to assault and kill innocent men, women and children just trying to go about their day-to-day lives...

 

What could they possibly have in common that would help us identify them, so we can prevent as many senseless slaughters in the name of Allah as possible?

What would be absurd is allowing huge swatches of people access to jetliners, in this case, with minimal security because they “look” harmless. If there exist items that would allow for passengers to turn a plane into a weapon it would be the height of naivete to allow anyone the ability to bring them onboard. How long do we wait for a white person to attempt to use a commercial jet in an act of terrorism before we search everyone and lament how preventable it could have been? If we only profile white men at federal buildings (which would seem counterproductive according to the arguments here for profiling since they are likely the majority of persons entering federal buildings) how long until another demographic attempts an attack before proper security measures are put in place?

 

It seems those advocating profiling in this manner are less concerned with practical security mechanisms than with doing what sounds good on the surface.

Not true. My husband travels a lot and I often pick him up at the Cincinnati airport. I am always told to move if I sit more than a few moments. I like the new cell phone lots for that very reason.

Considering that it has been said that a good percentage of the Arizona population is Hispanic, I guess it is safe to assume that there is Hispanic police officers and African American police officers and even female police officers.

 

Serious question to consider.

 

Is it racial profiling if a Hispanic police officer stops a Hispanic to ask for their ID or is racial profiling only racists if a white police officer asks for the ID?

 

Can an African American police officer ask a Hispanic for an ID and it be racist?

 

Can you be racist on a race if you are of that race?
