Track The Reds (Week 3)

Arroyo and Cueto flipped in the roation. Arroyo will go tonight, and Cueto tomorrow to give Cueto an extra day of rest. That doesn't sound right to me. How tired could he be this early in the season? I said last game that Cueto didn't look like he had the zip on his fastball that he had in the past. I wouldn't be surprised to see him go on the DL soon with some sort of arm, shoulder or elbow problem.

^ Might have more to do with Bronson liking night games better than day games. Glass half full.

Yes I am going tomorrow!

I'm supposed to go as well but since its over a 2 hour drive if the weather looks too dicey I may stay home.

I thought of that possibility too, but why not just come out and say that instead of saying you're giving Cueto an extra day of rest.

Much to the Scribe's dismay, Dick Enberg will just not go away. After a 25 year absence from baseball, he is now doing play-by-play for San Diego.

The Arroyo for Cueto switch worked out brilliantly tonight. :ohbrother:

Dick Enberg's call of Gonzales' grand slam:

"Colbert swings and hits a high, deep drive to right. Back goes Rettenmund, looks up and it's gone!!! It's a grand slam home run by Nate Colbert... Oh My!!! Glenn Beckert, Dave Windfield, and Cito Gaston score ahead of Colbert and the Padres lead the Big Red Machine here at Riverfront 10-0. "

Oh MY!! That was awesome. All it was missing was a Randy Jones reference.

I recall the Padre southpaw well. One thing that stuck with me about Jones is the fact that one year he lost something like 22 or 23 games and then came back and was a 20+ game winner the next couple of years. Pretty impressive to turn a 22 loss season into a 22 win year just a season or two later.

^My little brother went to primary school in San Diego with one of Randy Jones' daughters. Nice guy, would always come to recitals and such and sign autographs and baseball cards.

Padres are a pretty good small-ball team.
