UK is going to have a good class regardless of Teague. He would be a great and maybe the best addition to the class, but if they don't get him they'll probably get another 5 star stud at PG.

 

I've heard many a few weeks ago pencilling Teague in as a future Cardinal. So losing him would be about like UK losing Gilchrist IMO, it would be bad news. If UK doesn't get him it's a guy that UK fans have felt they had a good chance at for about a month or so.

 

Uk has been in on him much longer than a month. It started last summer. He hasn't been a UofL lock for about a year now. That's why I don't think he is coming, he would of committed a long time ago. I really think Rick's personal life cost him Teague. From the perspective that he was all of sudden unstable at UofL and Richard left for Florida. Not saying he was a UK lean, but most have known he has not been a UofL lean since last summer. He has been open to all, including UC and IU too. I promise you, UofL hasn't felt confident about his recruitment since last summer (since Richard left). Notice, they lost their Indy connection when Richard was forced to move to UF.

 

That's why you've seen the contract extension and the series with Butler. To help lure Teague back.

I think in the end he goes with UL.

You have the family ties with the father and uncle having both played for RP and you have the hiring of the AAU coach...all of that pulling on Teague for a long time...UL eventually wins out.

 

I would say this is Pitino's biggest recruit since Jamal Mashburn when he was at UK. Pitino needs Teague desperately, IMO.

Maybe he wants to build a roster with some guys who are not one and done. Apparently he will not be a NBA guy in 1 year adn we need to build some 3 and 4 year guys to keep the program going in the future. We cant just rely on 1 and done al lof the time. I dont think it is stupid. If he is good then CAl wil know ho to use him.

 

He wouldn't see the floor anymore than during blowouts.

I won't be surprised with any choice he makes. The comment from his father that was posted earlier could be interpreted as good news for Louisville or Cincinnati...in fact, it seems like UC fans could get the most hope from that particular quote.

 

In the end, we'll know tomorrow.

I recall that Roderick Rhodes was a "Player of the Year" coming out of High School and in many charts the #1 recruit. Mercer was on some lists (particularly with Kevin Garnett going straight to the pros).

Forgot about Rhodes...he and Jason Kidd were 1 and 2 on a lot of lists, if I recall correctly. I'm pretty sure both guys, Mercer and Rhodes, were rated higher than Mashburn coming out of high school.

 

Pitino has never been a guy who filled his roster with 5-star recruits anyway. He gets enough and does a great job developing the rest.
