Second time i've seen Rasmus almost hit one out of GABP live. If he can figure lefty's he has all star upside.

I swear I don't understand why Reds pitchers just keep pumping fast balls right down the middle against Pujols. ESPN said Pujols has hit mor homers off the Reds than any other teams. Looked like the same old Reds. Harang's done, Dusty is terrible, Dickerson is not a full time player, stupid mistakes at bad times and Phillips swings at everything. 70 Wins and Dusty id fired!!!!!!!

Pujols on pace for 324 homers, 486 RBI, 648 hits, 648 runs scored and 1,620 total bases.

It'll be tough to keep it up, though.

:lol::notworthy:

Survey says....

Another one for the good guys! :D

It was a beautiful day to watch a game, but man was it disappointing.

- Dusty continues to allow his pitchers to pitch to Pujols. He is a Reds' killer, and they continue to serve it up to him on a silver platter.

- There isn't a pitcher on the staff with a set. No-one throws inside. Lincoln did, in what I think was an accident, on Pujols and practically got a standing ovation. They let hitters get too comfortable in the box.

- BP needs to get out of the 4 spot. If anything, I'd flip him and Rolen. Rolen isn't built for the 4 spot either, but he understands that hitting in the 4 spot doesn't mean you have to hit 40+ homeruns. BP still swings for the fences.

- As mentioned, the bullpen struggled and will probably struggle most of the year with some of the guys they have. They need the starters to go roughly 7 innings to give them a chance in games.

Been saying that for years. I hope the new pitching coach changes that mindset.

So have I. While watching some 1990 clips at the game, we were trying to think if that's the last time they've really had a group of pitchers that kept hitters honest.

This is not about today's game in particular, its just one game, but our offense just doesn't seem to have enough to make a run. When Phillips is your best option as the cleanup hitter I don't like our odds.

Harang appears done to me, but I hope I'm wrong.

My thoughts on the game:

-Rolen is going to have a big year I think. Remember he has been in and out with shoulder issues and now he has just had an entire off-season to get stronger.

-Votto is a stud. 2 hits, HR included, off the one of the best pitchers in the game. I fear him every time he comes up. He goes opposite field so well.

-Stubs needs to play more, bottom line. I just hope Dusty hasn't developed a man crush on Nix or Dickerson because they need his bat in the line-up.

-Watch out for Colby Rasmus this year. There was a great article on how much he went through last year on and off the field and he is about to bloom. I think he is a Carlos Beltran like player when it's all said and done.

-What else can be said about Albert Pujols? No matter who is pitching I just feel like he is capable of going yard. 4 for 5 with 2 HR's...:ohbrother:

-I know it's opening day, but watching the rest of the NL Central, I still stick by my original post saying the Reds are still the second best team in this division. Still probably a year away. Harrang and Arroyo leave, Volquez and Chapman come in and add a few guys to the bullpen and they will be solid.

Anyone who attended the game today have an update on the person hit by the NASTY line drive foul ball down the first baseline? Never seen a ball bounce off a person like that before. It seemed serious very fast. Hope everyone ended up ok.

That ball bounced a good 20 feet off that person. The people around him/her were waving frantically for help. However, even though it was hard to tell from sitting down the 3rd base line, it didn't appear like they took anyone away.

How many teams started their #4 or #5 pitcher on opening day?

The Reds and the Dodgers.

Was it due to injuries?
