And I will be in Gulf Shores, Alabama for the Hangout Music Festival next week seeing tons of shows, including Portugal. The Man.

Portugal. The Man is one of the bands I'm most excited to see at Lollapalooza.

It's not new by any stretch of the imagination, but I am amazed at how many people I have introduced this artist to who have never heard of her, and that is a crime by commercial radio. Brandi Carlisl

Been listening to a lot of Sam Quinn. Used to be in a group with Jill Andrews called Everybodyfields but for the past year or so has been doing his own thing with his band Japan Ten.

Clock Opera - Belongings

These guys have been putting out music for a few years now, all via 7" single releases. I keep waiting to get my hands on an entire album and I keep having to wait longer. Makes me think I would have HATED it back in the 50's when that was the only way music was released...

Love that band.
Love that band.

Me too, him and Andrews made some beautiful music together. Kinda hated to see them branch off and do their own thing.

Saw Jason Isbell last night at the Southgate House. He played a pretty dern rocking set. Even closed his regular set with a solid cover of Neil Young's "Rocking In The Free World". Well worth the $15 I spent on the ticket.

For those who like alt country/Americana/southern rock/folk/jug bands/old timey music, the Whispering Beards Folk Festival will be back again on August 26-28. This time it's in Friendship, Indiana...not far from Lawrenceburg and Aurora. Headliners are Todd Snider and Hayes Carll.

Thank you for the heads up. This looks really good.

The new self titled album from Bon Iver is pretty solid, although it's not as great as For Emma, Forever Ago. Here's a solid live performance of one of the songs.

Nothing in particular, but I have been rocking the "Spectrum" station on Sirius/XM. Really enjoying it.

Been listening to the new Pokey LaFarge album quite a bit. I don't own it yet but NPR has the entire album for free as a "First Listen". First heard him in my barber shop about a year back and got his Daytrotter Session not too long after that. Hopefully going to pick this up on vinyl come payday.

Pokey LaFarge And The South City Three - Middle Of Everywhere

I can't get over the catchiness of Young the Giant's debut album.

I've been enjoying Brett Dennen lately.
