Treg Setty Commits To...

Featured Replies

Treg has a bright future. Sometimes going ahead and making a college choice this early allows a player to relax and have a great senior year. Congratulations to Treg.

I think there is a way I can block All In's posts from showing up on my BGP. Going to look for that option now.

It takes the original posts out but they still show up in the quotes.

Setty said one of the reasons for a commitment now was the reaction from the Southern Illinois staff after last week's Sweet 16 in Rupp Arena. Mason County went 2-1 before losing to Shelby Valley in the state semifinals but Setty didn't have a great tournament.

"I laid an egg," said Setty, who had 18 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in three games. "I was not happy with the way I performed but I guess there's a reason for everything. I have a lot going on and just needed to get something settled down.

"(The staff) said they were at Rupp and were still behind me and believed in me and that meant a lot. Now, I can focus on what I need to do to get better. I'm on a different mission now."

Setty also said a connection between Southern Illinois head coach Chris Lowery and former Mason County star and friend Darius Miller, who is now at Kentucky, helped.

Treg was only a junior this year? Nice. I thought he was a senior. Congrats to him. I'll be keeping an eye out and rooting for the Salukis in the near future.

I hate to be the one to burst the bubble but he cannot play at either place. He is way too soft and was really a non factor in the sweet 16. Pikeville would be a better fit.

I don't believe this at all. Trevor Setty was going to Oklahoma State and play for Travis Ford too and ended up taking the Maysville pipeline to Pikeville, look for Treg to follow, that is unless Wells gets the Morehead job if Tyndall leaves.:thumb::popcorn:

Believe it. Danny Weddle posted the story on his sports blog.

Fleming County fan = Hater. Enough said.

Congrats Treg. You have a bright future ahead of you.

Seems early to commit especially before the summer.

With that said, assuming you mean the SIU in Carbondale , he's going to a great b-ball community.

Lots of basketball tradition at Southern Illinois.

Does anybody know who the greatest player in Southern Illinois basketball history is?

I feel confident that "Clyde" might know!

Correct with little time off the clock!

"Clyde" did pick a great one to have as his avatar!

I would say there is a good chance

Congratulations to Treg on his choice which I think is a great fit for him. To be honest, I thought he would go bigger. As stated earlier in a post, by making the early decision this will allow Treg to keep his mind free and clear and just focus on basketball, this is however, an unfortunate event for the rest of the 10th region. Treg is a dangerous player with even more upside to his game than he has already shown. As much as I like to dislike Mason County, it is always great to see good things happen to good people.
