Did the referees call the game different for Scott County?

Any time you make it to the Final 4 you've had a good season. In a 1 game scenerio anything can happen. What Coach Hicks has shown over the years is he can win big games. His accomplishments as a coach speak for themselves. According to the LHL hes now tied for the most wins ever in the Sweet 16. I've also heard hes about to break Bobby Keith's all time wins record. For some to say he does very little coaching or is not one of the best in the business is silly.

Bobby Keith doesn't have the all time wins record, Wiiliam Kean of Central does.

Kean 856

Keith 767

Pearl combs 761

Hicks 731

I just glanced over this thread, if it's been said, I do apologize. I wasn't able to make it to Rupp this year for the Sweet 16, but I did make sure and order a program and got it today.

Of course they have stats for anything/everything in the back and one of them is most fouls called in a single game. In a list of 10 teams that have had the most fouls called against them in a single game, Scott County is listed 3 different times.

I believe someone else said it was their style of play and while all those players fouling out is ridiculous, it doesn't appear to be anything new.

I'm not denying that at all. But if we are gonna throw some transfers under the bus, then let's throw a blanket over 'em all. Guys like Behanan, and the list is long aren't exactly homegrown.

I'm not speaking for sweet16, but it was my impression that it wasn't the transfers he was throwing under the bus.

Benahan is just one player, albeit a very talented one. Scott County had three Division I recruits (and other usable players) transfer in at a school that already has 2,000-plus kids.

I think Scott Co. just ran into a pair of teams that attack the basket a lot. They didn't adjust accordingly.

Very good observation! :thumb:

The biggest thing that happened was Jackson fouling out. All of a sudden Ballard became A LOT more athletic than Scott Co.

It funny how after being away from KY high school ball emotionally for a year, that I don't feel any different about the officiating. The "athletic" player driving to the rim gets a foul called if there is even a suspicion of contact, and the big guys underneath get creamed every time down the floor, especially if they touch the ball and seldom get calls. Just my opinion.

Several of you are "choosing" to miss the point. To make it to the Final 4 with a team of players that are homegrown or "would attend that school whether it had a team or not" is outstanding and to be congradulated. To make it to the Final 4 with a team of players that is "assembled" of some of the best players around the state, players that would NOT attend that school if the school had no basketball team IS "underacheiving" unless they advance.

If I bring a 38 to a squirt gun fight and win....so what...:idunno: I should win, but if I lose.....I expect to be beat like a dead horse like a forum such as this one ! :deadhorse:

There was zero doubt in my mind that Jackson was the only SC player the Ballard kids truly feared. They knew he was the best player on the floor.

Agree 100%. It's a shame that Chad hasn't developed a jumpshot over the past 2 seasons. With a solid jumper, he'd be at the top of the class hands down. Still a fantastic talent.

The officials let Hicks run around the whole tourney and show them up!!!! Should have been assessed a technical foul at least 5 different times during games....took away from the competition of the game...no excuse for his actions or the officials not taking more pride in their jobs!!!
