So would you let continue to let these Islamic Terrorists to shoot RPGs over the border into your own land and injure/kill many men, women and children? The countries that guys like Hezbollah occupy (in this case Lebanon) are given free-rain and the government chooses to do nothing about it despite many requests by Israel and other nations. Would you continue to let his happen? Or would step in and take care of it yourself and occupy these territories until these other governments decide to get off their butts and do something about the rampage that is going on within their country?

I love the way he's taking a hard line stance against Israel, an ally as you pointed out, but we dilly dally around with someone who could pose a serious threat to world peace, in general, and the United States, specifically, in Iran.

It's my understanding, and it could be wrong, that Israel owns the land where the construction is occurring, and there is nothing prohibiting them from building there in any agreements that have been made. I'm not sure why Obama and his administration are taking this course. Regardless of what they say, their actions do not support the claim that they consider Israel one of our top allies.

I'm not sure what you mean by Israel owning the land. Are you talking about the West Bank or specifically East Jerusalem? At any rate, Israel agreed to suspend building in these territories as part of long negotiated peace talks sponsored, and to be moderated, by the US. When Biden landed in Israel they announced the construction of a new development. It appears this announcement was the result of a lack of bureaucratic restraint, but it is incredibly sloppy nonetheless. That is Israel insulting the United States, an action that would have garnered widespread condemnation if it were any other state. Obama's subsequent rebuke has garnered far greater criticism.

 

If we are talking about the same action, I'm not sure how Obama's handling of the situation could be considered a war on Israel. The US is the stronger power, and one of Israel's only allies, that should afford the US more discretion and respect, not the other way around. It seems some treat Israel as the more powerful state and any American deviance from their wishes, no matter what they are, to be anathema. I don't quite understand that.

Since I have not read the book, I would love to know the context.

I like a lot of things Obama has done. But I completely disagree with him on this. I think this and health care have been mistakes. (IMO with healthcare, more so the timing of it). I think we should get our economy built up better 1st.
