What about the Boomer, David Wells?

Thats who I was thinking of, how about Juan Guzman, played for the reds laate in is career

Eric Milton

.... Still leaves a sour taste

I had seats in left field one game when he pitched and he gave up a HR that was the hardest ball I have ever seen hit. I think Milton Bradley hit it, I quickly got up and left my seat because I was scared to death about his pitching, i figured if he gave up another one I would not be able to get out of the way.

John Roper. Once sat behind home plate and saw him throw 12 straight balls to start a game (loaded the bases). He then went 2-1 on Larry Walker, who promptly deposited pitch number 16 over the 404 sign in centerfield at the old Riverfront/Cinergy. Great stuff.

Christy Matthewson.

The first one that came to my mind (even though I'm not quite old enough to remember it).

Lots of folks think the worst trade the Reds ever made was Frank Robinson for Milt Pappas and a couple of no-names. Not even close.

The Reds traded Mathewson to the Giants for Amos Rusie in December 1900. Rusie went 0-1 for the Reds. Mathewson did slightly better, winning 373 games over the next 16 seasons for the Giants.

Here are guys that played in a Reds Uniform and for the most part were already washed up or blossomed after leaving the Reds. But for the most part most of these guys were at one time top players in the game and the Reds got them when they were already washed up. For years the Reds tried to make a living off of players past their prime thinking they could resurrect their careers. Out of all these players only one Bip Roberts actually made an All Star game with the Reds. There are a lot of guys that I wanted to mention that I didn't because the thread title is Former BIG Name Reds Players.
