March 19, 201016 yr Will Saul take over the powerhouse Tubby built in Minn. :ohbrother: I don't think Saul is ready to be a head coach. And Minnesota is in much better shape now than before Tubby took over. Powerhouse? Nope. But improved.
March 19, 201016 yr I think he probably worked a 7-year contract out during the Christmas break, actually. Wouldn't be the first time he was working on a move before the season ended. Its interesting that you all would want to bring this back up. Yeah he might have done that, but hmmm I wonder what possible reason he could have possibly had to work a deal behind the scenes to leave UK to go to Minnesota...:sssh:

March 19, 201016 yr Touchy touchy. Tubby too good to joke about? No, not at all. 1) You guys aren't joking. 2) This was talked about to no end on here about 1,000,000,000 times already. What's the purpose of bringing something so pointless back up.

March 19, 201016 yr Now we can say Ten Loss Tigers if he goes to Auburn. Where is GG at? and what happened to the one who played at Ole Miss?
March 19, 201016 yr In all seriousness, Tubby did a very good job at Georgia. I don't think its a stretch to believe he could replicate that at Auburn.
March 19, 201016 yr In all seriousness, Tubby did a very good job at Georgia. I don't think its a stretch to believe he could replicate that at Auburn. Tubby has done a very good job everywhere he's ever went, including UK. Problem is the majority of UK fans will tolerate nothing short of great every year. I saw something the other day that was pretty incredible if you think about it. Tubby is one of a select few coaches to ever take 4 different schools to the NCAA tournament multiple times each.
March 19, 201016 yr In all seriousness, Tubby did a very good job at Georgia. I don't think its a stretch to believe he could replicate that at Auburn. No expectations at Georgia though. They are a football school. If you win 20 games at GA, you are a great coach. MINN isnt good at anything, so of course it looks like he did good. Minn has more losses than anyone in the tourny this yr. I know it is beating a dead horse but in 1998 when Tubby won with Pitino's team. That was the last time UK went to the Final Four or Great 8.
March 19, 201016 yr I just do not see it. Him back in the SEC is not something i think he would be interested in.

Kentucky lost in the "Elite Eight" to Marquette in 2003 and Michigan State (2OT) in 2005.

You are right, ... :deadhorse: However, this team was not nearly as talented as the '96 title team or the '97 runner up. Nobody was predicting UK to win the title that year. In '96, anything short would have been a major disappointment. In '98, even Pitino said that he thought Tubby did a tremendous job with a team that was not the most talented team in the tourney. This fact still bugs way too many fans. He won a title for the Cats and he gets bashed for it? Simply amazing to me. He is also is 1 rebounded FT against #1 UCONN, an OT loss to Mich St and 1 sensational Dewayne Wade performance from being in possibly 3 more final 4's. This Minnesota team also played a tougher schedule than many of the teams with better records. And this is Minnesota we are talking about. Not exactly a hotbed to recruit into. I don't see Auburn being much better, ... but they do have a new facility and the weather is much nicer this time of year.

I am sick of the Tubby and Pitino recruits story:deadhorse: I think Tubby has a lot of class for putting up with the 8% of UK fans. He was a hair from a Final Four twice. I agree that his last two year's weren't the greatest but give the man a break. He's gone, that is the past, look forward towards the hope of another title.
