Nice to see some local grads getting the chance to participate on the big stage. Two that come to mind that graduated with my daughter (Mason County '08) are Darius Miller (UK, #1 seed) and De' Sarae Chambers (Dayton, #8 seed). There are others from that graduating class playing in smaller-school tournaments; and I'm certain that Mason County isn't the only school in the Commonwealth that has multiple players from the same graduating class playing in the NCAA tournament(s).

Here's a chance to spotlight others; feel free to brag on your high school's players that are going to get some face time in late March.:thumb:

Shelvin Mack from Bryant Station who starts at Butler now. For all the talk about who was better between Hopson, and Miller in High School, Mack always seemed to be overlooked for some reason. The guy was probably the best one out of them all along, and has proven it so far.

Well he doesn't start and rarely plays, but everyone who is a Kentucky fan Knows Mark Krebs' story . He is a former Thoroughbred from Newport Central Catholic .

Murray State has two reserve guys on the roster from Kentucky. Jordan Burge from Mayfield and Jeffery McClain from Fulton. Jordan Smart from Lexington Catholic is on Vandy.

I hoped someone was going to mention Mack. He ended up being the best of the 3 IMO as well.:thumb:

Preston Knowles has become a very important part of the Louisville team!

In my VERY humble opinion...THE most important KY boy in the tournament. :D:dancingpa

I will go with a guy that could be the X-factor on a National Championship team. But if you wanna go with a kid on the underachieving nine seed be my guest :D

I didn't realize college kids only got 2 years of eligibility nowadays....

FWIW, Mack is a player, but no way is he or Miller better than Hopson. Hopson, IMO, will play at the next level, I don't see that out of Mack or Miller yet.

I agree with both of you.

Vee Sanford from Lexington Catholic plays at Georgetown.

I was going to mention him. Saw him play for Georgetown the other day.

You are so right R-Mom.:thumb: Another player that was way under-rated in high school. Go Cards.

Darius Miller scored 20 in the Cats' romp over Wake Forest.

De'Sarae Chambers scored 7 off the bench as the Dayton women rallied from an 18-point deficit to defeat TCU 67-66. Next up are the Lady Volunteers at 7:00PM this evening on ESPN2. The Lady Vols are the highest-ranked (#3) team that the Lady Flyers have ever faced.
