I'm sure that Coach L is considering Riedinger. However, I'd love to see Brett at the 2 because of his ability to consistently hit the 3 which is where they lacked offensively this year. So, who then? If Maschinot returns he would be a candidate. I'd also take a long hard look at Clint Massie. He seems to have a PG mentality from the JV games I saw this year.

 

If the Fredrick kid can grow a bit he would be in the mix as well.

When next season begins and the fever to play picks up, I'm guessing that any sour thoughts that exist that you allude to will be forgotten. At season's end, sometimes all a kid needs is a break and they'll be refreshed again when the time approaches to kick it into gear again. Stirring up gossip now is probably just wasted words and non-productive. Chips will fall where they may, but egging on undesirable possibilities is unhealthy and useless. JMO.

I agree with b-ball fan. Some axes have been ground so much on this forum, I'm surprises there is anything left. For someone to bring up kids threatening to leave the program on a blog is so wrong on so many levels. Let those kids handle it, no one else needs to air "their" issues on here.

I think the 9th region top 3 teams can be a mixture of Conner, Dixie, and Boone depending on which teams can go deeper and i think Dixie has the edge IMO but Conner and Dixie match up well, i'll be anxious to watch this game.

 

I know you can't judge solely on JV but I don't think Dixie will be as deep as you're predicting and no way they're the best team in the region next year. The only player that stood out to me from their JV squad was Parker Stansberry.

 

I personally think I'm underestimating Boone at #3. Boone may be the best team in the region next year with Brown and Montgomery leading the way. Looking at their underclassmen, they have a lot of young talent coming up to compliment those two.

 

Dixie will go as far as Pike/Hatton/Trammel take them. They could easily be the 2nd or 8th best team in the region next year depending on the night. I have them ranked 2nd but it wouldn't surprise me if they're a year away from being a serious region contender.

 

The region will be down big time next year because of the youth and inexperience which is why it will be so balanced. No team will have that one dominant player or group of players that can take over games like Holmes has had the past few years. The closest teams to having that are Conner and Boone...JMO, of course. I could be way off on my prediction.

I was simply replying to Clyde who obviously has heard some of the same things as me. I am sorry that I mentiion things that either folks on here are not aware of, or more probably do not want to believe. As far as me egging these things on, or grinding an ax, well yea maybe I am to a certain extent. But isn't that one of the most common occurences on a forum such as this? Obviously this issue is very near and dear to me. Maybe you are right and I am wrong. Hopefully that is the case. Too bad we have to wait until next year to find out!

Posts like yours are the reason I'm on here because people write things they are allowed to say, but should not say and should be challenged on it. Let's say that Coach L informed me about a defense that they had been working on for the Newport game. I would certainly be allowed post that per the BGP rules. But, it would jeopardize our chances of winning and would undermine what the coaches are doing. Just because you're allowed does not make it right. You have done those boys a disservice if they are thinking about leaving. The boys that are not thinking about that are lumped in to your list. It's completely irrresponsible of you to throw that out there.

I think this is getting a bit out of hand. Those boys could not tell you what they want to do on Saturday night, much less what they'll do next year.

 

From what I've seen those boys care too much about each other to not come back.

Unless Dixie was sandbagging this year, I don't see them being in the top five teams. Sorry, just my opinion.

IMO Newport should have a descent run at the 9th Region next year too. Yes they will be loosing a lot of seniors this season but they do have a lot of juniors from this team. The only reason IMO you're not hearing much of this group is because Coach Russell doesn't use his bench as effectively as other coaches have mastered. Coach Russell is a good coach and has been more aggressive this season than in the past and has been blessed with an excellent group of seniors this season. The addition of Foster was a major effect to the team. But IMO this group of juniors has a lot of speed and drive. Not much in the height area but they should be able to produce a fast pace game that will also help them with a more aggressive defense.

It is hard to predict who will be the best teams in the 9th next year until '10-'11 school registrations are locked in. Without offering any type of editorial opinion on the transfer issue, the fact remains that the better 9th region teams over the past several years have benefited greatly from the addition of transfer students. While a transfer may not guarantee a weak team will be cutting down the BOK Arena nets next March, the addition of a solid player can propel a good team over the hump to greatness.

I agree with you 100%. Seems like a lot of schools have benefited from a solid transfer. True there is no guarantee a solid transfer will get you a championship but it does help. Foster came to Newport and was the missing piece of the puzzle for Newport to be solid. McDaniels, Collins, Luther and Sizemore are not doubt a awesome group but they still needed one more solid player to become a threat. Transfer are becoming a increasing factor for all of the sports programs.
