Scott 60 Mason County 28

Featured Replies

They fronted the post and brought the weakside help!

They also had the best guard on the floor in Emily Sanker who was able to help take over the game. She scores in bunches.

Gotcha. Sanker was a great player at Brossart. Is she playing ball in college?

I was there and it was embarrassing to say the least from a Mason County point of view. How can you let one player beat you, how can you not play zone, how can you not be more prepared in this game. The game of basketball creates many different matchups and Mason County was exploited time after time down the floor offensively and defensively. Have you heard of change? After the head coach received his technical, he verbally told his assistants to take a seat and sit down. I heard it with my own ears, I was shocked. If I was sitting on his bench, I believe I would have got and left and cut my ties. Administration may need to look at this, several parents are very upset over the actions that were on display tonight.

Upset with the coaching or coach behavior? Mason County had a good year and a huge turn around from last year.

Congratulations to Scott. The better team clearly won tonight, as is generally the case. So much for home court advantage (although the Fieldhouse is not the Lady Royals' home court)! Tibbs was a monster inside; even with 2 or 3 defenders she made nearly everything she looked at. I don't get to a lot of girls' games, but if she's not the best player in the 10th I'd like to know who is. She clogged everything up inside, and with the outside shot not falling for Mason County, they never got close.

For the Scott fans that got a bit frantic thinking that Mason was awarded an extra point too many, not the case. When Mason was sitting on 17, Katelyn Smith hit 2 free throws, but only one got on the scoreboard. Stayed that way for a while, finally the scoreboard operator was told that Mason had another point and he put it on the board on a FT a couple minutes later. It just looked like Mason was awarded 2 points on a FT, but the scoreboard correctly went from 21 to 23 at the time.

Congrats also to Mason County on a nice turnaround season. Bad way to go out; especially for Keller Menke and Beth Queen.

We might finally see a close game tomorrow; the first four in the tourney have been romps.

Huge turn around for sure and very proud of the team. I was not very impressed with the strategy tonight or the behavior.

I am shocked by the final score, but how could anybody think Mason would win this game. First of all, they only got to the region by beating a St. Pat team by 6 that shot 4 of 17 from the foul line. Then against Bracken County they won by 2 over a team that shot 15 of 32 from the foul line. I believe the coach should concentrate more on coaching than crying to the referees. Two technicals in 3 tournament games is a problem. As far as the assistant coaches, just how many do you need for high school. If you expect to win every year, you will only be disappointed. Good luck next year!

Mason shot around 20% for the game and less than 14% in the second half. I'm not an expert but coaches can't shoot for the girls. Also, Scott had 1 foul called in the whole first half. I am surprised that the coach didn't get a tech earlier than he did, let's face it no team plays a perfect game and not foul!! (Not at all saying that the refs caused the loss, Lauren Tibbs is a MAJOR D 1 player and she deserves the credit!!) They double and triple teamed her, but to no avail.

Soccer at EKU

Scott probably played their best game of the year at the right time. This was a team victory. Tibbs led them, but there were key contributions from other players. Taylor Stinson played a huge role tonight making Mason pay on the weakside when Tibbs was double and triple teamed. Scott played their tempo and handled Mason's press and even made them pay on the other end a few times. Scott was in a match up zone all night which led to fewer foul calls. Mason had trouble with it all night and was not able to get in to their dribble drive and pitch style of play. Congrats to the Lady Eagles. You stepped up big tonight. Good luck vs. GRC tomorrow night. A tough one indeed.

Where do the Lady Royals play their home games? I always thought they played in the Fieldhouse.

I think they play most of their home games in the old high school gym in down town Maysville. That is where Scott played them earlier this year. I am not sure of the overall breakdown between the two locations.

I don't know, but it could possibly be because they already beat Scott once this year.

Lauren Tibbs could not be stopped tonight. She was double/triple teamed the entire night and could not miss. Lauren Tibbs made 5 (I think) free throws in a row after a foul, technical, and intentional foul. This really changed the momentum of the game. I saw WKU and NKU at the game tonight. The team played very well together tonight. Taylor Stinson and Sam Kraft really stepped it up. Tomorrow's game will be much tougher, but if Tibbs is not stopped, then Scott may pull away with a victory.

Great team win Scott! Ms. Tibbs has another impressive outing. After the close win for Mason County in December the margin of victory suprised me a little.
