A few weeks ago, I heard the man say live on a WFTM pre-game show that he had been hoping that one of the opposing team's better players would "turn an ankle on the ice on her way into the gym" that night, and "unfortunately, she didn't, so..." blah, blah blah. :irked: So why should anyone be suprised or upset by his behavior during the games?

 

Congratulations to Mason County girls for being in the 10th region as 39th district champions, and good luck to Keller Menke in her college career.:thumb:

 

This is ridiculous and taken out of context. When asked (by me) how to stop Mary Jehlik of Montgomery County, Coach Butcher answered that since she didn't turn her ankle on the ice outside ... and then proceeded to explain how the Lady Royals would try to defend against her. He was not serious and to say that he was is pretty insulting to him.

 

There is a big difference between attacking a coach's gameplans, scouting, game results, etc., and saying that he legitimately wanted a player to get hurt. I'm pretty sure that if anyone in the MC administration believed Coach Butcher was serious, this wouldn't have been the first time this quote (again, taken out of context) would've been mentioned on BGP.

I don't believe that you can correctly say that I took anything out of context. I pretty much gave the entire direct quote, without omitting anything. I'm not trying to manipulate the information; I know exactly what I heard. And whether he was serious or not, I think it was inappropriate to say this on the radio about a kid.

 

By the way, the player you mentioned isn't even the one I'm referring to. Different game against a different school. So, either you're a bit confused about what you heard, or maybe it's been said before more than one game. Either way, you're incorrect, and not really in a position to call someone else's post "ridiculous".

I know Deming complained this year about how they were treated by the present coach when they were down by 30 or so in the 4th quarter and was still getting pressed.

 

That is not right and makes it seem like new administration but same practices as the previous coach.

 

I had hoped that things would have been different.

 

LBC, I realize this is an open forum and people can post anything they want whether it is backed by facts or not. I am sure you did not see the Deming game. If you are a Mason Co hater and talked to another Mason hater then I see how you got this opinion. Mason outscored Deming 15-6 in the fourth qtr. How many did Mason's starters score in the fourth? "0" Did we press, probably. Our JV, who you want to play because of the lead, pressed their varsity players and how is that a problem. By the way, their starters scored all six points in the fourth. I am also pretty sure that Deming were instructed to foul intentionally as Mason shot 53 FT. The referees said it were the worst game they have ever called. Just some facts fron=m the scorebook to back your assumptions!!!!

That is MO of Mason County girls teams.

 

Buser did it constantly and my understanding was that Mason was up 30 or so on Deming in the 4th quarter and still pressing.

 

You just are tasting what Mason County has been known to dish out on a constant basis throughout the 10th Region.

 

The point being made is that they had a tough game the next night in which Tibbs looked a little tire and not the same player. Mason will not complain about leaving their starters in. Last year, St Pat beat Mason like a drum in the District and only six or seven players scored. How many posts did you post and complain about that game. I know it did not happen to you so that is different. You complain about this in every thread that you can. Let it go!!! Alot of bad things has happened to me and some not really fair at all, but as I get older, much older, the wounds heals and I don't look to post it every chane that I get. You should have kept Coaching so you could have gotten back at Mason over the last couple of years.

I was there and it was embarrassing to say the least from a Mason County point of view. How can you let one player beat you, how can you not play zone, how can you not be more prepared in this game. The game of basketball creates many different matchups and Mason County was exploited time after time down the floor offensively and defensively. Have you heard of change? After the head coach received his technical, he verbally told his assistants to take a seat and sit down. I heard it with my own ears, I was shocked. If I was sitting on his bench, I believe I would have got and left and cut my ties. Administration may need to look at this, several parents are very upset over the actions that were on display tonight.

So, I'm catching up on old posts and the comments on this thread caught my interest.

These statments confuse me. Ther seems to be a lot of contradiction here.

 

From the player (Moss not Jehlik) and pregame show (Boone not Montgomery) to the idea that Mason County's administration would be upset and as a result the comment would have been mentioned on this site sooner.

 

And by saying that just because a listener heard it on the radio and wasn't "there" somehow makes them wrong in what they heard....:confused:

By being there you heard the following "the fact is that he said, aside from the player getting hurt outside, that there was very little chance to stop her from what she wanted to do on the court." How did that sound so different on the radio?

 

Also, praying isn't a blasphemous act. Praying to win, play well or even that the oppponent doesn't play well is not blasphemous. If you were praying that the opponent turned their ankles on the way in the gym that would still not be blasphemous, just cruel and un-Christian-like. Blasphemy--to speak disrespectfully about God and/or things sacred that pertian to God. Basketball (although this is KY and some may disagree,)is not sacred.

 

Lastly, I have to disagree, I do think you called the comment ridiculous. Just my perception of your comment.
