The game of basketball creates many different matchups and Mason County was exploited time after time down the floor offensively and defensively. Have you heard of change? After the head coach received his technical, he verbally told his assistants to take a seat and sit down. I heard it with my own ears, I was shocked. If I was sitting on his bench, I believe I would have got and left and cut my ties. Administration may need to look at this, several parents are very upset over the actions that were on display tonight.

After a technical on the coach, the coaches must stay seated. I know of a coach that if he received a technical, he had a little stool that he would pull out to sit on and he would sit it right on the sideline. But he was right in telling his assistants to sit down. A second T on the bench means the head coach goes to the locker room.

I think they play most of their home games in the old high school gym in down town Maysville. That is where Scott played them earlier this year. I am not sure of the overall breakdown between the two locations.

Could that be considered a Title IX violation? Conner High School had a T9 lawsuit that won bc the girls softball team had to walk farther to their field than the boys baseball team did.

Scott probably played their best game of the year at the right time. This was a team victory. Tibbs led them, but there were key contributions from other players. Taylor Stinson played a huge role tonight making Mason pay on the weakside when Tibbs was double and triple teamed. Scott played their tempo and handled Mason's press and even made them pay on the other end a few times. Scott was in a match up zone all night which led to fewer foul calls. Mason had trouble with it all night and was not able to get in to their dribble drive and pitch style of play. Congrats to the Lady Eagles. You stepped up big tonight. Good luck vs. GRC tomorrow night. A tough one indeed.

 

An accurate summary. Seemed to me that when Mason drove, they drove too deep and had no opportunity to kick the ball back out; forced to chuck up shots that Tibbs simply obliterated. Never could seem to solve the zone; the vast majority of their shots were either blocked or missed threes. Took very few 8-12 footers.

 

On the other hand, if I were a statistician I would guess that Scott's "average" shot was taken within a step of the basket. If not Tibbs, then someone else working free under the basket while Tibbs was triple-teamed.

Scott was the better team tonight. Mason Co couldn't get a call in the first half. Tibbs an amazing player but Scott kept her in the game until like the 2:00 mark in the 4th quarter. Mason Co had the JV or the subs in around the 6:00 mark. Kinda crazy how long they kept her in the game up by 30 points with a game tomorrow night.

I know Deming complained this year about how they were treated by the present coach when they were down by 30 or so in the 4th quarter and was still getting pressed.

 

That is not right and makes it seem like new administration but same practices as the previous coach.

Maybe they didn't because of distance or b/c they had already played and beat Scott so they thought they didn't need to. Last year didn't St. Patrick beat Scott in the regular season, only to lose to them in the opening round of the region tournament.

I've only been to a handful of MC games and I think Butcher has got a technical foul at every game I have been to. He is constantly screaming at players or the refs. Mason did scout Scott and Brossart in the district finals. The head coach was there in person to watch that game.

I don't think preparation was lacking in this game. Tibbs is an incredible player. She will go ACC, SEC, or Big East. She is that good. I can see Scott winning it all, especially if they play like they did last night. You can have the best game plan in the world but EXECUTION has to happen. Shooting less than 25% against a team like Scott is not executing and you will not win.

A few weeks ago, I heard the man say live on a WFTM pre-game show that he had been hoping that one of the opposing team's better players would "turn an ankle on the ice on her way into the gym" that night, and "unfortunately, she didn't, so..." blah, blah blah. :irked: So why should anyone be suprised or upset by his behavior during the games?
