March 1, 201016 yr Some of my music geek friends and I were discussing this over a few adult beverages and it turned into a chain of emails in a kind of "who can top who" competition. Figured I'd post it on here to see what any of the BGP audiophiles can come up with: List the top 30 songs in your listening repertoire that have to be CRANKED when you listen to them. Rules 1) You can’t use any less than 25 separate artists – that means you can’t have any more than five (5) artists that you list more than one song by. 2) Live albums are acceptable, but you can’t list the same song as recorded originally AND performed live, or as performed by multiple artists. In other words, you can’t list “Cortez The Killer” from Zuma AND Live Rust, and you can’t list it as done by Built to Spill AND Neil Young. Each song only gets one shot. 3) You can't use multiple songs from the same album. We all know that you should rightfully crank Nevermind from front to back, but that's not interesting. Pick the "best" song (in your opinion). 1) Ben Harper - Forgiven "Burn To Shine' 2) Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road "Born To Run" 3) Built To Spill - Carry The Zero "Keep It Like A Secret" 4) Built To Spill - Goin' Against Your Mind "You In Reverse" 5) Chemical Brothers - Let Forever Be "Surrender" 6) Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - Upon This Tidal Wave Of Young Blood "Clap Your Hands Say Yeah" 7) Cold War Kids - Hang Me Up To Dry "Robbers & Cowards" 8) Damien Jurado - Castles "I Break Chairs" 9) Death Cab For Cutie - The New Year "Tranatlanicism" 10) Guns 'N Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine "Appetite For Destruction" 11) Hum - Counting Stars "You'd Prefer an Astronaut" 12) Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child (Slight Return) "Electric Ladyland" 13) Killers - When You Were Young "Sam's Town" 14) Led Zeppelin - Black Dog "Led Zeppelin IV" 15) Led Zeppelin - Whole Lotta Love "Led Zeppelin II" 16) My Morning Jacket - Highly Suspicious "Evil Urges" 17) My Morning Jacket - One Big Holiday "It Still Moves" 18) Neil Young - Cowgirl In The Sand "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere' 19) Neutral Milk Hotel - Holland, 1945 "An Aeroplane Over The Sea" 20) Nirvana - Breed "Nevermind" 21) Nirvana - Rape Me "In Utero" 22) Pearl Jam - Why Go "Ten" 23) The Appleseed Cast - On Reflection "Low Level Owl Vol. 1" 24) The Arcade Fire - Keep The Car Running "Neon Bible" 25) The Arcade Fire - Wake Up "Funeral" 26) The Flaming Lips - The Gash "The Soft Bulletin" 27) The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again "Who's Next" 28) Toadies - Tyler "Rubberneck" 29) Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - American Girl "Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers" 30) Weezer - Tired Of Sex "Pinkerton"

March 1, 201016 yr Author Heart - "Crazy On You" Deep Purple - "Smoke On The Water" Golden Earring - "Radar Love" ZZ Top - "Sharp Dressed Man" Moody Blues - "Story In Your Eyes" Alice Cooper - "School's Out" Alice Cooper - "Dead Babies" Jethro Tull - "Cross-eyed Mary" Jethro Tull - "Aqualung" Bachman Turner Overdrive - "Let It Ride" Great songs Bluto. :thumb: I was looking at your list, and judging from the selection, I came up with the following about you (feel free to confirm, deny, or completely ignore): Crazy On You - 1976 Smoke On The Water - 1972 Radar Love - 1973 Sharp Dressed Man - 1983 Story In Your Eyes - 1971 School's Out - 1972 Dead Babies - 1971 Cross-Eyed Mary - 1971 Aqualung - 1971 Let Ir Ride - 1973 You were in high school circa '70-'74. Who can forget the tunes they rocked out to in high school - particularly in the weight room during summer strength & conditioning for football? You got into college in '75 or so, and you stuck with the tried and true rock classics from your teens. The mid-70's came around and disco began slowly trying to destroy music, but those rockin' Wilson sisters managed to create a classic with their Dreamboat Annie album, and your hope was restored. All together, it's been the classic rock masterpieces that have sustained you, but the persistence and relatively unchanged blues-rocking of the ZZ Top boys managed to pump out another favorite to add to your collection in the early '80s. I might also guess that, although not on your short list, you would probably include SRV's Pride and Joy among your favorite "Gotta Crank 'Em" songs. So...am I anywhere close???
