Gearhart from the 16th does a good job. Interesting though I do not think she has called a district game in the 16th at all unless she did tonight.

Marla worked the Greenup/Lewis game on Thursday; and I am sure she worked the Boyd/Fairview game on Wednesday night.

Marla Gearhart has had a bigtime D1 ref schedule this yr. She was a GREAT D1 guard that understands the game. A huge advantage over some refs who have never played the game.

I can remember about 5-6 years ago where the BBA (the 10th and 11th region) didn't have a representative in the Sweet 16. I'm sure it's one of those bureaucratical things at the KHSAA Office.

 

 

Do I remember that? That was hard to swallow!

I am sure it was for many others in the BBA!!!!!!!!

Props to my good friend and former baseball coach Mike Hall for getting the call this year. He has been one of the best in EKY for some time and has even been snubbed once or twice out of the girls sweet 16. He is very excited for this opportunity and I hope he does well.

Yeah, Scott does really well. In the past the 12th region teams have struggled in the state, which has allowed some of our refs to get to work late in the tournament. I love to be at Rupp on Saturday night and see a familiar face in stripes on the floor.

 

Scott has been calling games since I was at Somerset in the 80's. I graduated in 1988 and he's always been one of the best refs in the 12th. He always kept his emotions in check and never seemed biased.

Seems like a few of the same names every year.

 

Not saying any are bad (or good) but just wish they would give more folks a shot. I know in 6th and 7th there are a couple of really good guys that always seem to get passed over for the Price brothers or the other guy that escapes me who has done girls' Sweet 16 2-3 times in past few years.

James Pouncey is a player's referee. Most players enjoy when he's on the floor regardless of which side you're on.
