Very strong showing by his father in that article. Quite interesting other kids transfered for other sports with no protest..... I still feel he met criteria to transfer, it's just the whole he did it for athletics that got in the way. A kid is allowed to move to his fathers.

Unless the situations the dad mentions were identical (and what two situations are exactly identical), I don't think it serves him well to even bring them up.

Yes it is an important part of the story. Spencer and Christian both transferred to Boyle but while at Danville neither were impact/superstars for Danville. Had they been good players while at Danville, their transfers would have been protested as well. Many kids have transferred from Boyle to Danville without protest. Why this one all of a sudden? Oh, because he was their best player. That's why. To those of us here in Title Town the protest can be perceived as fishy.

As the saying goes ... the devil is in the details. That is likely where the stories of Spencer and Christian differ from Dunn's and that is why Dunn is ineligible and they weren't.

If he moved to Lincoln Co then he would be eligible by the bylaw.

 

This is where I get confused....

 

He can't move in with his dad who lives in Boyle County territory but he and his dad can move to Lincoln County and he can be eligible? Seems to me that he should be ineligible throughout the whole state if the KHSAA says he is ineligible. Governing body of Kentucky High School athletics, right? If they moved to Lincoln County would there be any doubt that he is moving to play football his senior year but yet he would be eligible? Don't get me wrong, I hope he plays somewhere but I don't understand how he can be ineligible at one school and eligible at another school. :idunno:

I know that Spencer Perrin wasn't even on the bball team at Danville and I am not sure whether Christian was. Perrin had either quit or been kicked off the basketball team. I believe that both kids transfered at the beginning of the year as well. To me this makes the examples far from close. The way Dunn left and the things that were said when he left makes coach Harp as a coach and more importantly AD have to speak up. We as fans and adults can't have kids moving around to whatever team they want whenever they want.

If people think that this move was not solely for the purpose of playing football at Boyle, I believe they are wrong. I believe this Dad thought he could pull this one over, and now that it has backfired, he is pointing the finger for costing his kid.

The vast majority of high school athletes that transfer do so for athletic reasons. The real question is how to prove it.

The year before Spencer came to Boyle County he was on the team at the beginning of the year. He had quit/kicked off by Christmas I believe. Christian was on the team as well. While both were on the team, neither got much time with varsity, but they were both on the team at Danville prior to coming to Boyle County. Playing time was rumored to have been the reason behind their transfers and yes, they waited until the end of the school year. From what I was told Will was told he had to have his transfer paperwork in by January 5th to be eligible to play football in the fall.

 

If no one protested Will's transfer and Danville released him would he have been eligible or would the KHSAA still intervene if no one protested? I don't know but I am curious as to how Spencer and Christian could play immediately if anyone has that answer.

 

I think we all know that Will's transfer to Boyle County was athletically influenced somewhat. I won't deny that. Like Clyde said, a vast majority of transfers are. As was said before, you can go to any Boyle County/Danville game and see kids with the wrong colors on. Happens all of the time and happens every year. I just can't help but wonder if he wasn't such a good player going to a cross town rival would we even have a need for this thread. Maybe he should have gone to Taylor County like Leonard did or Lincoln County as was suggested earlier.

His Dad is simply protecting his son at this point. His Dad is simply trying to do what he feels is best for his son and unless you know the entire story behind all of this I wouldn't blame or point the finger at his Dad.
