Elizabethtown 128 Fort Knox 13

What would you all have done if your child had been playing this game? I know I could not have sat there and watched it from either side of the gym. I may have acted inappropriately.

Acted inappropriately would be the understatement of the century... I may have taken matters into my own hands... Good thing my kids are grown...

Also for what it's worth, E'town, a well-established state power, probably fielded a freshman third string that was 20 points better than Ft. Knox's starters.

From the E-Town bench: :irked:

I don't pull my daughter off floor or team. However, that school administration knows exactly my opinion the next day and "I" leave the game that night waiting for my daughter outside. She does see my disgust when we make eye contact as I leave. We have a father-daughter "character" discussion that night over a late dinner. I leave her with the this..."Doing the right thing is never wrong." I DO NOT BLAME her for anything that happened. But, she understands the one incharge was WRONG. I keep a very close eye and ear on what kind of things she is being taught by this coach.

From the Ft. K bench: :ohbrother:

(Hopefully I am not deployed overseas and learn of this in a letter or e-mail) I am on the phone with the AD and Office of E-Town the next day. "No Excuse." "I" stay for the game that night in support of my daughter. She does see my disgust when we make eye contact. We have a father-daughter "character" discussion that night over a late dinner. For those old enough to remember...I have plenty of "LIFESAVERS!"

This may not be all but it is a quick thought.

I hope none of this is true, but if it was:

IDC...Use it as an chance to teach every player from the 9th - 12th grade how to become great at PASSING and ball handeling ONLY! 16 straight minutes of PASSING and HANDELING! In this game once my team scores 50 we practice PASSING and HANDELING. What could the score at the end of the first have possibly been? Oh, I don't know 32 - 4!!! :irked:

What could ANY E-Town player have learned from this game?I don't care if it was their 8th grade team! :madman:

I always have a hard time understanding how these things happen with a gym full of adults watching. I mean how does a parent just not go off, an AD or administrator not get in the coaches ear and tell him/her to back off, an assistant coach talk some sense into the head coach or a ref say something to put a stop to it.

A game administrator! Good point! Where are they! What are they "NOT" thinking?

Not sure how much experience some of you have in dealing with etown and their fan base, but they never do anything wrong. They will defend this as if it was a normal happening and this is all Ft. Knox's fault.

The bottom line is no matter how bad the opponent is, a 115 point win couold have been avoided if the coaches wanted to do so.

For what it's worth, Fort Knox has been really down this year in all girls' sports, and they already weren't very good (albeit somewhat competitive in volleyball last year and the year before) to begin with. It's kind of the same things that led to Fort Knox's struggles in football and the long losing streak. If you look at the Eagles' overall results, they were getting blown out by middle-of-the-road teams and losing to bad teams.

E'town is a top-10 team coming off a blowout loss to Marion County (MC and E'town are faves for the region championship), so I can understand a little bit of this, in that light of lingering anger and frustration. It's a district game, so it had to be played. It could have been anyone else; just bad timing for the Eagles and probably not personal.

From my dealings with E'town coach Tim Mudd in the past, he's always been a first-class, stand-up guy. There were no comments from him or the players for the story -- I don't think the News-Enterprise had anyone actually there -- so I'll at least withhold judgment until I hear his explanation. He generally doesn't make a habit of going overboard like this.

Same here. I am shocked by this....:idunno:

If what I read elsewhere is to be believed, E'town only dressed 10 players for a game they knew they were going to win easily. Now that is what I don't get.

Another case for some sort of 'Mercy Rule" as is used in other sports.

Maybe another case to blind draw the districts instead of seeding. E-Town would benefit more by playing better competition those two games than playing FT Knox. This scenerio plays out all over the state. Mason boys does not play a team in our district and the girls does play a couple.

The story says E-town didn't press but forced 38 turnovers. The story also said only one starter played more than 20 minutes. They only dressed 10.

It's funny, and I don't know Tim Mudd so this isn't so much a personal comment about him, but I do know a couple of coaches who have put on a pretty good front and make everyone think they are such a good person when in fact they will do some pretty low things when they think know one is watching and in this case, and imo, this one was done while everyone was watching.

I agree the coach should have had the e-town girls hold the ball. There is no excuse for what was done here. How sad.

Wow. I can't imagine anyone up here (9th or 10th) doing something like this.

Public opioion would be brutal and the basketball community would be up in arms!

I really want to hear the story on this.

As far as the 10th , it just depends on what team you are as to how brutal public opinion would be. I can reference on this site the wins with big margins of victory, and how inconsistant public opinion can be about those wins.

They can still do seeding and not play Ft. Knox. Ft. Knox would just always be the lowest seed. That is what Beechwood girls did for years. They would not play any in season district games and come to the tourney as the 4th seed.

Heritage Academy does the same thing in the 33rd district,

So the game does not have to be scheduled.
