Has UK finally started to turn the corner in recruiting?

Featured Replies

How do you know until these guys take the field and play? How many stars was Derrick Locke? Keenan Burton?

I think stars by recruits names and ranking the classes is extemely overrated.

Without looking, who had the best recuiting class in 2007? Who was second?

See what I mean.

Valid point and in football stars mean probably less than any other sport because you have no idea how kids will physically grow in the coming years which plays a key role. With that said, I would much rather take my chances with top 10 players coming in to college as opposed to players 390-400. While stars do not show everything, it is generally a solid indication as to where a program stands. And to answer your question, I believe the answer is Florida. Not sure about #2... probably USC.

I haven't followed recruiting much this year, has Kentucky done better this year than the last few?

I'd guess 2 of these 3: Florida, USC, or Texas.

I get what you are saying and do agree somewhat. BUT, the SEC teams at the top load up their roster with 4* and 5* guys. So when a few don't pan out they have plenty more to step in and replace them. UK struggles to get 2 or 3 of these guys.

While they are still lower SEC, I think it helps them because no matter their ranking they usually play really tough against all teams outside of Florida.

Maybe this is the kind of class that can get over the hump with UT, USC, etc.

If UK can get 8 wins this year and a good bowl I think we can see a lot better classes in the next few years.

What does their schedule look like for this season?

It sets up rather nicely...SEC Road games are Ole Miss, UT, Florida, and Miss. St.

Yah, but the signing parties are fun. :D

Not necessarily.

What happend to the 4* DB from Arkansas. I didnt see him listed on rivals today. I also read somewhere that UK will not accept Tim McAdoo's Loi or verbal; anyone know why?

And that guess would be right nearly every time, just because if those schools are recruiting a guy, then he's considered 5-star. That doesn't necessarily mean they are 5-star players (see: Notre Dame, 1993-present). But it makes it tough to climb in the recruiting rankings, for whatever they are worth.

Anterio Sloan

Don't really know why he pulled hs committment, just heard some rumors.

One of those rumors was that he has a shoulder injury that is not healing.

Looking like he might be headed to Arkansas State.

In regards to UK being blow eligible every year, and winning 6-7 games, yes they are making progress. In regards to moving out of the basement in the SEC, clearly no.

That has already been established. It's tough to move up in the rankings when almost half of your conference puts together a top 10 class on (almost) an annual basis.

For example, the SEC has 7 schools in the top 18. The Big East's highest rated school is West Virginia, at #19. Granted, part of that could be attributed to the fact that some of the lesser recruits get more notoriety because of where they commit, but still...

Kentucky would have the 3rd best recruiting class in the Big East. If Pittsburgh leaves, Kentucky would have the 2nd best recruiting class in the Big East.

'06, USC & Florida were the top 2.

'07, Florida & USC flip-flopped.

Alabama has been the #1 class in '08 & '09, until this year, when Florida is likely to overtake them again.

They may not be entirely right, but that's not just a coincidence.

Kentucky is 11th in the SEC in both polls. Gotta have some upward movement if they ever want more than a 7 or 8 win season. No reason UK can't beat out Mississippi State and Arkansas.
