Notable gets: RB Brandon Gainer TE Alex Smith RB Miles Simpson LB Tim Patterson I was really hoping UK could like DT Mike Thornton but he ended up committing to UGA.
February 3, 201016 yr Where does that rank them in the SEC? 11 or so? While they have made strides from years past, they are nowhere near even the middle of the pack as far as SEC recruiting goes. Not sure if they will ever get to that point.

February 3, 201016 yr Author While they are still lower SEC, I think it helps them because no matter their ranking they usually play really tough against all teams outside of Florida. Maybe this is the kind of class that can get over the hump with UT, USC, etc. If UK can get 8 wins this year and a good bowl I think we can see a lot better classes in the next few years.

February 3, 201016 yr Most teams in the nation would be rated near the bottom in the SEC recruiting. Being 48 nationally is not all that bad.

Recruiting starts in the homestate, you have to get the best talent in state, then you have to go to the other states your trying to compete with and take their players. I expect UL to do this and UK will certainly try and has done so in this class a little bit.

Kentucky 58. Arkansas 59. Vanderbilt So the 12 SEC teams make up 20% of the top 59 spots? 1/2 of the top 10 are SEC schools and 8 of the top 25.

February 3, 201016 yr How do you know until these guys take the field and play? How many stars was Derrick Locke? Keenan Burton? I think stars by recruits names and ranking the classes is extemely overrated. Without looking, who had the best recuiting class in 2007? Who was second? See what I mean.

I know football recruit rankings are not as solid as other sports but to see UK at least get some of the higher rated players is a step up for this program. Yes, UK has developed some low ranking players into fine athletes but it's nice to have players who can come in and make impacts right away. I understand what you are saying though. :thumb:
