36th District Draw

And I get so sick and tired of the ALL A. I ask Why? Everyone gets a trophy. Thats Why. Because it just wouldnt be politically correct if the small schools had to face a bigger and better school to win a tourney and get a trophy. You are missing my point. Dayton, Bel, NCC and Npt have the ALL A. Its real simple. By the 36 Dist doing what they do, they are almost securing a Boone or Kenton Cty team to win the Region every yr simply because the system is eliminating one of the best teams yr in and yr out of the tourney and that so happens to be a 36 Dist team. I must say the BC and KC teams have to be laughing it up thinking how ridiculous to blind draw. :thumb: Either get rid of the ALL A or go to a seeding system. Sorry, but I disagree that the small schools should have their cake and eat it too just because they can based on a majority vote. I couldnt resist. Also, dont kid yourself if you think that the chance of upsets every 3 to 5 yrs between these 36th small schools exist in the Girls tourney. It just doesnt happen. Boys maybe, but not Girls. I respect your opinion but you are way off on this one. Go Birds. 20n10

I'm guessing you haven't been associated with a small public school before, because if you had, you would have a totally different opinion. Why is any sport classed then? So you are saying Bellevue/Dayton can compete with Highlands every year. If so, you have NO clue!

Last time I checked, Highlands is a pretty small school. By your premise, the Birds should never be able to compete with the giant 6A schools. But yet they do. Right or wrong bball is not classed. Why would you not the very best teams reach the regional?

They should at least play the championship game so we know who the champion is.lol

Seriously not a cake walk but the 2 best teams should advance. True if you want to win it all you have tobeat the best teams anyway. However you would like to say you'll just win and advance but when teams are evenly matched anything can happen and you would like to have another shot. That is why 2 teams from each region advance. I am sure the runner up often advances to the sweet sixteen. If all the other disticts did a blind draw that would be fine. they don't so the best 2 always andvace to the region. the rest of the ninth loves it this way because one of them is getting a first round bye.

I agree....your district gets a double wammy! Not only do you not send your two best teams to the region you give another district a first round bye. Bottom line they need to seed the district. The all A is for the small schools that is your chance. This is the big dog tourny! The best 8 teams should go to represent the 9th region. It is not belly aching its the facts...No disrespect to Newport, Dayton or Bellevue but Ncc and High. are 25 to 35 points better on any night they play. Should be a packed house for that district final between High or Ncc and Bellevue and that first round game with Boone county and Bellevue in the region.

Does anybody have a link to the bracket with the dates and times of all the games?

I am not sure of the exact breakdown of divisions but you are never going to get an exact even playing field. That is why they have the all A. Once the regular tournament begins if you want to move on you are going to have to compete with larger schools. I just beleive that in order to keep things as even as possible all districts should seed or not seed, and since the 36th is one of only a few to not seed they should conform to the rest of the states guidelines

As for being a fan of a small school i am. for some reason you want to act like Ncc is the size of Boone.

You mean like the state tournament that this tournament is leading towards that has..............A BLIND DRAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is the state tournament and all the teams in the whole state play under the draw. In the district only a few of them do a blind draw, the rest seed. Creating an unfair advantage for the districts that do seed when playing the less talented teams when they get to the regional.

The more and more Iam thinking about this whole blind draw thing, I keep finding myself agreeing with Gryche. Blind draw or seeding, play em all out and the winner moves on because they are the better team and most dominate team. Now, of course Iam only agreeing with him on this under 1 condition. Get rid of the runner up freebie to the Region. Take the Dist winner only and the rest go home. That would pretty much put the kabash on this debate. It takes away the odd man out vote that NPT is holding over Highlands and NCC head and it also shuts me up becasue their is no consolation prize for the runnerup. Maybe by doing this it gives NKY teams another week to rest for the Sweet 16. Not the Sweet 32. GO Birds 20n10

I never said that these programs can or will compete with Highlands yr in and yr out. They wont, especially the Girls programs. Boys, maybe, but thats another debate.

I have not been assoicated with a small school but I dont understand your point. You have the All A tourney for the small schools. You wont get any pity from this Cakeeater when it comes to this debate. Like I said, play em all out and only District Winner advances and then that takes care of the issue at hand here. There will no longer be a benefit for NPT to vote every yr against seeding. Then your best team goes to the Region, Period. :thumb: 20n10.

While I favor seeding, I agree that taking only the winner from each region will eliminate this debate altogether.

One question though...Dayton, Bellevue, and Newport all all opt for the draw year in and year out. Why do you only point out Newport as the one school holding the draw over NCC and Highlands' heads?

I assume you mean one winner from each district, but I have seen two district runners up meet in the Region final in the past few years.

While I could live with only taking the District winners It would eliminate gate for 2 games. Also it also could be an advantage to the team on the tougher bracket side to play the smaller school that got lucky getting to the District finals. It gives them a higher percentage of getting a district loser in the 1st round of the Region and avoiding Boone Co. True?

The region is a blind draw...NDA actually drw Dayton the last time this happened.

Well it is, sort of. A dist winner can only play a dist loser in the 1st round, and that cannot be the team in their dist. So they really don't put all 8 teams in a hat and blind draw. Maybe we can call it a "one eye open" draw...

This is a waste of time ,Because we all know who is going to go to STATE Boone for the girls [ The best coach ] Holmes for the boys [ The best players] If you dont think so keep wasting your time....
