I'm not so sure that Male is a better job than Ballard anymore.

Just a honest question here...why is Coverdale held in such high regard for such high profile jobs?

 

Not to say that his offenses aren't brilliant and great, but outside the walls of Trinity we saw what happened to him, and one really has to ask the question, who wouldn't have a great offense at Trinity?

 

Trinity hasn't always had a great offense. Coverdale is a the greatest offensive mind I have ever met, he sees things before they happen, just like in chess. Heck, he's been published multiple times.

 

In regards to his success at Castle, he tried to turn a power running program into our thing of beauty and they didn't want to change. Thankfully we got him back, I hope he never leaves again.

How many schools "go after" coaches in high school? Don't they just pick from the ones that apply?

I'd be surprised by this hire, Wolfe quit in the middle of the year, which if you want to never be hired by the JCPS mafia again, leave in the middle of the year.

Policies have changed at Male in the last few years, and they are no longer getting the cream of the crop athletes that they used to. The main reason Male has made it farther than Ballard in those years is basically because they haven't had to face one of the Big 2 until later on in the playoffs. The one knock on the Ballard job right now is that they have Trinity in their district. That may or may not change with the next re-alignment, as will Male's district and ultimately the route they have to take in the playoffs. Male is still a good job, but it is nowhere near the caliber of place it used to be and probably won't be that way ever again.

Ballard RIGHT NOW, is a better job than Male RIGHT NOW.

I'm not so sure that Male is a better job than Ballard anymore.

 

Male is not in a district with the BIG 2, that makes it a better job right there. Mike is an outstanding coach and would be an EXCELLENT hire by the bulldogs. He holds kids to a certain standard and would draw excitement to bulldog nation.

That's a hard sell given that Male has been in the Regional Final and Final Four in the past two years. While their path is clearly easier than Ballard's, they are still the most successful public big school, year in and year out in KY over the last 30 years...and while policy may have changed, it takes a lot to knock out old tradition...and no other public school in Louisville, outside of Manual perhaps, has the alumni, tradition, and expectations of Male.

 

Outside of Louisville Central and the Big two, it would be impossible to argue that Male is not the best job in Louisville if your interest is playing for State Championships.

Ballard RIGHT NOW, is a better job than Male RIGHT NOW.

 

On top of the previous evidence I have provided:

 

As a Trinity supporter and perhaps ex-player (I'm assuming here) you know that all that matters is what you do in the second season (playoffs).

 

Male beat Ballard in the playoffs last year when it mattered, so I ask, how is Ballard a better job right now, given that the last head-to-head result favors Male?

Male has a very nice stadium/track. Male has a better location. Tradition, not really close. I'm sure Ballard has great students/teachers/AD/staff as same as Male. Now that Wilson is gone the edge goes to Male. And Male is like the top 5 in total wins nation wide. And my kid went there.
