This is hilarious to follow. This is starting to sound like a Highlands Football thread. All the Haters come out of the woodwork when a very very good and well coached team is winning. Im loving it even know my Girls lost the game that this thread was supposed to be about. :popcorn: 20n10

 

Exactly right...it's why I said in an earlier post "go to the other forums and you'll read the same stuff about successful programs in other sports". (HHS Football was definitely one of the programs I was referring too).

 

Anytime Boone is having success and something positive is posted...the thread gets hi-jacked with this stuff...

A Birds fan here, but you are right. Good players find a way to good programs. Do you think the Highlands Football team isn't going to get a transfer from somewhere this year? I'm not a tremendous Fooks fan, but she like Mueller have worked hard to develop their programs. She's simply reaping the benefit from her past efforts. Boone County in my opinion is the best team in the 9th, but are very dependent on Moss. As long as Moss has good games against good teams they will be tough to beat in this region.

Transfers do happen. Everyone talks about how the players want to go to successful programs. That is what happens in today's "Me Society". Commitment to a school or a program is something of the past. What gets forgotten about is the negative impact it has on the schools that the players left. If Bradley stayed at Connor, how good would they have been? My opinion would have been very good. After Dailey left Ryle, it set them back 2 - 3 years in their program if not more. This is just 2 instances that come to mind and in no way am I singling these 2 out.

Have to agree with you completely 1734. The only justice I can remember is when a Highlands player as a junior has her team win the region and then the following year she transferred to Boone. Boone was heavily favored that year and Highlands played them in the finals and beat them. Now, THERE was a little bit of justice.

Agree with you on pretty much everything you said...FTR, I'm also not a tremendous Mueller fan, but ya can't argue with what the man has done.

There could have been other things that could also hurt the program (new coach, player graduation, player turmoil, etc...), but when one of your best players to play for the school leaves, that is a huge lose. Looking back on Ryle's records (if my timing is right) when Dailey was there vs. when she left, my point may have a little validity. They went 13-13 in 01-02, 12-16 in 02-03, 3-22 in 03-04 (first year at Boone I believe) then 8-14. Ryle could have graduated some good players during that time, but I can't recall them at this time.

Absolutely could not agree more. It worked out great for Conner and at least 3 of the player's that left are playing at the next level so it looks as if it worked out great for all involved.

 

That Conner team was loaded with talent and had several seniors that had played together for a long time...so that may have had a little to do with their success as well.

Putting all kidding aside, it is nice to see a spirited debate for Girls basketball on BGP's. The girls side has been dead with the exception of Bracken/St Pat stuff.

 

It would however be nice to talk about the teams and their strengths and weaknesses. Who can beat Boone and how, for instance. How do you contain Tibbs? Who are the strong newcomers? etc. If you post a prediction thread almost no one weighs in. Lot of time wasted on transfers and the past that quite frankly will not change or end.

 

These girls play hard, let's promote them, critic the teams and look to the Regionals that are not that far away. Either way it is good to see a thread with some life.

She left and the team got worse. To me that hardly means there was any lasting impact to the overall program, which is what "setting the program back" would imply. Ryle girls weren't good when she was there and they were worse with her gone.
