Bradley was a 4 year starter at Boone County. I believe she was Regional MVP as a freshman.

But didn't she play in the Conner system while in grade school and play some high school basketball for Conner while in grade school? At least that's what someone told me, but they could have been wrong. And how good would Boone Co. be if they didn't get the transfer from Ryle. Do you think the Moss girl helps their program out a little? Sure, Boone would still be good, but much more down the poll than what they are now. And as far as transfers to Boone over the years - I know two from Ryle, one from Holy Cross, one from Highlands, one from Dixie Heights, one from Simon Kenton, one from Beechwood, . . . . . need I go on? Enough said, I'm done with this. My viewpoint is that it is not fair to the program from which the athlete left nor to teams that have to played a trumped up team of transfers. But it will continue because nothing has changed in 25 years since Fookes has been there. And thanks GFYBS for your comments - I have to agree with them 100%. It's a shame that a dedicated player in a program gets sideswiped by someone coming in from another school to take away her thunder, but as I mention before -- "Win at all costs."

No she was not a transfer. She began her high school career at Boone.

 

She started her high school career at Connor - when she was in 8th grade.

 

You know that.

 

The KHSAA rules allowed her to transfer to Boone.

 

That did not change the fact that she started at Connor.

Never heard that before.

A school boar can permit a student to attend school at their school, but a student cannot play in santioned KHSAA games unless the transfer has been approved by the state. All schools that are members of the KHSAA must abide by their rules.

Moss definitely helps Boone County. Although, I don't think anyone is ready to hand Boone the 9th region title for the next 3 years (since Moss is only a sophomore). Ryle, NDA, Highlands, etc. have some very young talent.

 

It will be fun to watch all the teams continue to battle over the next few years. I still believe, on any given night, anything can happen!

I agree with earlier posts, about the girls who work hard and then don't get anything out of it. I've seen Boone play in a couple of matches, this year and last. Last year I saw forward Jackie Marshall really come alive on the court and this year she sits at the end of the bench, along with a lot of other boone players. Although she suffered a serious knee injury, it would have been nice to see her out on the court a little bit. Fact of the matter is, it makes the level of competition much greater in a practice setting. Girls have to earn their spot, and the player who works the hardest and does their job will play. Its unfortunate sometimes that high schools get those transfers, but its something that happens and it makes great teams better. I'm sure Nell demands more out of her starting five then she does her j.v. players, but I seriously doubt that she expects anything less then their ability. She makes every player work as hard as they can work, and thats why her team performs to the level they do.

Why do most of the posts about Boone's game always end up in a discussion about Sydney Moss and her transfer to Boone County? The fact is she is there, like it or not. I hope ,for her sake, she has a great career. Whether anone like the facts surrounding her transfer, she is a young lady who loves the game and has a bright future ahead of her. I'm a basketball fan and I enjoy watching talented players no matter what school they play for.

Coach Fookes had no hand in getting Moss to Boone. That was a decision made by Moss and her mother and approved by the Boone County BOE and the KHSSA.

 

I'll add this additional caveat........The transfer was not about basketball. Moss was willing to sit and not play this season to make the move.

We all let it go until someone posts something we take umbridge with the we have to respond. This is a more tame version of sports talk radio. In our own minds we are all correct. Why can't everyone see that?

Yeah your right. She was a big help last year and it was unfortunate to see her down this year. I'm sure the recovery is harder then it looks. That's very good that she is starting in JV games to get her back slowly, we don't want to see anything happen again!!
