Yes, I have heard the rants, not impressed. I not talking about getting yelled at by a coach, that's happened to everyone. What I'm talking about is any "star" in any sport at any school gets more slack on their mistakes than other players because a "star" gives the team a better chance to win. Why does everyone want to act like this doesn't happen. It happens at every level as soon as some kids distinguish themselves as "stars." If I'm wrong, I apologize to anyone who takes exception.

I was not talking about the "rants." I was talking about what she says after the rants and the things she demands of her "stars."

 

I do understand your general statement about stars and all to often that is the case. Like you said few coaches will admit that it happens.

All the big girl talk and there were 11 threes made in this contest. You must admit when hitting those threes it tends to open up the inside for the post players.

 

You just nailed the difference in this game. Yes, BC had Moss inside and she is going to get her 20+ against anybody in NKY thats for sure, but the wide open perimeter threes for BC came because there was simply no pressure on the ball. The speedy point for BC would simply take the inbound and hustle down the floor and throw overtop of the Highlands defenders alot of times just as she crossed half court and because Highlands was trying to clog the middle to slow Moss down this left some very good looks, most time with nobody even defending the perimeter shooter. I know BC was setting screens to get this read and they do a very nice job getting the shooter to the open spot. This is definatley BC offense. It is sorta like prevent defense in football when a QB sits in the pocket with no pressure and gets to pick his reciever from a distance and more times than not is you are playing zone then you are going to give up a lot of passes. If the ball is not pressured then they do what I just explained and then if a defender is able to slide off of the screen and get out to defend in time then the perimeter shooter sends the ball into to Moss for an easy 2 especially if she is only guarded by one player and even sometimes 2. A very well orchastrated offense. Now, Highlands pressured the ball in the 2nd half and the threes were non existant. They found other ways to score but they didnt go any significant runs. Dont get me wrong, the girls hitting those threes are very good shooters and made them when they counted but when the pressure is on the ball all of the way down the court then it takes BC out of their bread and butter and made those threes much harder to come by. Just my observation and it may be all wrong, but that is what this armchair qb saw. :idunno: Go Birds 20n10

Yep, the Region is won by those coaches who make the adjustments from mid season experiences and everyone wonders how they turn that mid season loss into victory when it counts. You make great observations Sweeper.

For you, the pictures are easy and good. There's no telling what might happen if you put the camera in my hands. Quit being modest.

When you have great a great penetrating guard who who thinks about passing first you're going to have success. Sandlin does what a good point guard should do and that's make everyone on her team better.

Coach Fookes had no hand in getting Moss to Boone. That was a decision made by Moss and her mother and approved by the Boone County BOE and the KHSSA.

 

Nell has been an instrumental figure in the improvement shown by Moss over the past couple of seasons but Moss is a "happy camper" at Boone and that's a huge factor.

 

A fan of a district rival...take it with a grain of salt.

DD...you absolutely know the facts here. Speaking from experience, Nell is "WAY" more demanding on her so-called stars. In many cases...too demanding...fortunately, she's just as demanding in the classroom.

 

Sydney's thriving and that's what matters...I said a few months ago...the only change I would make to the "Cat's Pause" 9th region player rankings was to move her to #1...she's proving it. Sure wish she would have been at Boone last year

I know she's has many more than any other school; maybe even up to double figures by now. At the end of the season, the question always comes up - "What transfer will Boone get next season?"

Success does that...Every school with "consistent" success gets transfers in every sport (boy's or girl's)...time to deal with it and let it go!

Deal with it? Oh, I can deal with it because it doesn't affect me one way or another, but I don't have to agree with it. The KHSAA has those transfer rules in place so things like that don't happen. The only problem is they very very seldom adhere to their own rules, so athletes transferring will only get worse and worse. Is it fair to those schools that lose those athletes - ahhh, no! Do they have to deal with it? The question is, "Do they really have a choice?" The bottom line is - "Win at all costs!" If it means getting transfers in, then so be it. Since the KHSAA is not going to police their own policies, why not just have an open transfer rule so everyone has an equal chance?
