OK, I'll bite. I would assume that folks associated with Trinity have a much different definition of that word that most other folks do, so please, can we get some details, such as records and playoff results?

Every time X or T plays Male, Manual, Fern Creek, Ballard etc. The Publics seem to have all the D1 players and AllState players, yet X wins without an AllState player as did Trinity this past year. If talent wins, not coaching, the public schools in Louisville better look closely at their coaching staffs for reasons they do not beat either one with more skilled players.

None of those schools are remotely close to the same level of talent to X and T. And you say etc.:laugh:

 

If you are a fan of X, you might want to take a look at your programs lack of success in the BIG game. This year's team was extraordinary, yet they squeaked by in two of their final three playoff games. Trinity has maximized their talent in the past decade, X has not.

 

Talent also includes depth. No where close at any of those schools. A talented player doesn't make a talented team. I think there are multiple coaches in this state that could have accomplished what Glaser has done at X in the last ten years. There are very few if any that could have matched Beatty and staff's accomplishments at T. Keep in mind that I think Beatty has beaten X multiple times with lesser talent, and I am a fan of neither school.

 

Maybe in Xs and Os, maybe. But what most don't get, even some St. Xavier supportors here don't get, is that wins and losses are not the top priority with Coach Glaser or the Administration at St. Xavier.

 

As long as Coach Glaser still has the burn and wants to coach he will be the coach. The important factor is how he runs the program.

Extremely sad. Coach Bean was one of the top defensive coordinators in the state. And he was also a former head coach, who coached Oldham County to several spectacular seasons in the early-mid 80s, including the 1984 team that went 11-0 in the regular season while being ranked #1 in State 4A. (while shutting out 6 of 11 opponents and allowing just 3 ppg)

 

Not only a tremendous coach, but an incredible person and leader of young men.

Actually, not so much. Glaser is a good coach. We were supremely down this year, and made a big run. The proof will be in the next couple of years. I bet the song is sung differently at that time. I don't know if Beatty is the best coach in the Commonwealth...but he's the best I've seen in the last 15 years. And that spans quite a few coaches.

St.X made serious adjustments from the regular season game give Glaser the credit because he earned it.

If memory serves, that 1995 season ended with an embarrassing blow-out loss to Tates Creek or Bryan Station in Lexington. That was probably the final nail in the coffin for Chuck.

Make no mistake: Trinity was down.

I am not saying that Coach Glaser did not do a good job coaching---just that Trinity was down.

He had a great season....he didn't out coach us....he out played us....it happens, but not too much.

I think the success at both schools would continue regardless of the coach based on a) the feeder system going into the schools, b)the facilities and weight rooms, c)the enrollment versus other 6A schools, d)tradition and success based habits being passed on.

 

I will agree to disagree about Trinity being outcoached in 2009. Here is a couple of points that I saw in the final game.

If you have a younger, inexperienced team, you may want to trim down the play book and take out the rush to the line and hurry the snap to cut back on false starts. Yes you want the advantage of not giving St X the time to adjust to the formation but if the personnel can't get set and execute, isn't that a coaching item?

With the talent that James Quick possesses, you still need your WR to block on other plays. Starting a freshmen that can be described as one dimensional made the quick screens very defendable for Daylen Hall and other X dbs.

T rushed for a zillion yards in the semifinals but they lined up in the shotgun for the first 4th and 1 in the final. Yes they made the first down by throwing a quick screen for a gain of 2. IMVHO, Trinity abandoned the running game WAY too quickly and threw their chances for success on the shoulders of Kragthorpe and trick plays on a cold night. Incomplete passes gave the ball right back to St X's offense. Shortening the game isn't sexy but you have to second guess what if?
