^ They would do better than now. But it also takes the support of the administration, and the program itself (parents, players, et al). In that breath we earned those credentials, regardless of what anyone else thinks.

Who was the guy before Beatty?

Kevin Wright for one year. He's responsible for bringing us the spread, and Coach Cov. We would've fared just fine under him as well. A little known secret is that Beatty was our first choice when Wright was hired. He turned us down. Wright resigned after one season. Beatty didn't turn us down the second time.

Didn't he go to Warren Central, dominate, and then head out west somewhere? On another note, I think comparing Glaser and Beatty in coaching ability is giving Glaser too much credit. When is the last time that X has a legit claim of beating a team with superior talent?

Every time X or T plays Male, Manual, Fern Creek, Ballard etc. The Publics seem to have all the D1 players and AllState players, yet X wins without an AllState player as did Trinity this past year. If talent wins, not coaching, the public schools in Louisville better look closely at their coaching staffs for reasons they do not beat either one with more skilled players.

Talent also includes depth. No where close at any of those schools. A talented player doesn't make a talented team. I think there are multiple coaches in this state that could have accomplished what Glaser has done at X in the last ten years. There are very few if any that could have matched Beatty and staff's accomplishments at T. Keep in mind that I think Beatty has beaten X multiple times with lesser talent, and I am a fan of neither school.

If you watched this years State finals, you saw a masterfull job of coaching by Glaser. Coach Beatty had no answer even toward the end when he got fooled on the fake FG. Plus, to your own admission, T had plenty of talent because they did not lose to any school in Ky but X this year. T and X have coaches ( assistants) that have been with their programs for many years. Stability is what has made both programs successful.

If you watched this years State finals, you saw a masterfull job of coaching by Glaser. Coach Beatty had no answer even toward the end when he got fooled on the fake FG. Plus, to your own admission, T had plenty of talent because they did not lose to any school in Ky but X this year. T and X have coaches ( assistants) that have been with their programs for many years. Stability is what has made both programs successful.

T was flat down this season. T had no answer man for man on the field this year starting way too many underclassmen, and some seniors that were getting handled up front. One masterful coaching decision that comes to mind would be running lead on 4th and goal from the 2 instead of kicking a field goal and going up by two scores with five minutes left in the game. If you are trying to compare the coaching job at these two schools in the last decade, you are looking through blinders.

Actually, not so much. Glaser is a good coach. We were supremely down this year, and made a big run. The proof will be in the next couple of years. I bet the song is sung differently at that time. I don't know if Beatty is the best coach in the Commonwealth...but he's the best I've seen in the last 15 years. And that spans quite a few coaches.

I think any coach either school would hire that is qualified by experience to get hired would finish in the top 5 in 6A. Does anyone think it is possible for either school to not be one of the top 5 in the state? I think with the size of the schools and their tradition that they will always be in the top 5.

 

In the mid 80s, they weren't always top 5...

I was told that Coach Bean was recently let go & Craig Swabek was promoted to replace him as Defensive Coordinator. I haven't seen anything official from T but did hear that from a very reliable source...

 

Extremely sad. Coach Bean was one of the top defensive coordinators in the state. And he was also a former head coach, who coached Oldham County to several spectacular seasons in the early-mid 80s, including the 1984 team that went 11-0 in the regular season while being ranked #1 in State 4A. (while shutting out 6 of 11 opponents and allowing just 3 ppg)

 

Not only a tremendous coach, but an incredible person and leader of young men.

There are probably close to 100 Trinity fans on this board and nobody can provide this information? :confused:

It obviously takes good coaching. There is no doubt both programs have that. A questin I have is what draws all the talent to these schools. A lot of kids I know go there for football and if thats what their families want I don't have a problem, just like any situations as long as recruiting isn't involved. But what does draw in the talent? Facilities, funds, coaching, etc.
