What was the score of this game? I didn't see a thread, and I know we were beaten but please fill us in.

Why wasnt there a thread? Was it that bad of a game?

Holy Cross coach called the offense which primarily used the Pistol formation. Bad choice cause we could not move the ball. Nothing but screens and short - intermediate passes. Not smart when you have two or three of the best RBs in the state on your team.

Based on the HC games I've watched and the numerous comments on this site, he seriously needs to think about letting someone else call the plays for his own team.

Did Rees touch the ball?

 

Not as much as I think he should have. :madman:

 

I think he may have gotten about 3 carries in all, maybe. I watched the 4th quarter and only saw him on the kickoff team. I never saw him in the backfield. Maybe someone who saw the game can say how much he played.

I say 3 is a fairly accurate number and probably no more than 5.. Hayden probably had almost twice the carries as Rees.

He didn't play near as much as he should have. The talent was there the coaching wasn't.:irked:

I think the Coach's pride gets in the way of the purpose of this game. It is to showcase these young men. Don't get me wrong I like to beat TN in anything, but this is dealing with a young mans future. I don't think they should keep score, but it does make it a little more entertaining. I had this gripe last year that everyone didn't get quality playing time. It was better this year then last so hopefully it's getting better about showcasing these kids!

I agree, I felt had KY used the backfield they had, they would've ran away with the game.

 

Some guys who I'm sure were chosen to play defense still could've went in and played a down or two of offense (vice versa), for example Caleb Watkins would know how to run power or sweep. Raglin the same, Rees, needed a lot of carries as well as Hayden. Shocked Amis didn't see anytime at QB considering the formation used was a Pistol set, the entire time.

I was at the game he got three carries one for about 4 yards a second for about 3 yards and a third that went for about seven but was called back for a holding penalty.

 

He did play on most kick offs but was never kicked to ( smart coaching for Tenn.)

 

The play calling was awful:confused:. Having a kid like Rees that ran for 3000+ yards and he gets 3 touches come on. Maybe it had a lot to do with where you are from as to how much you got to play.:madman:

In reality the only real recognition anyone gave Rees McShara was by his own teammates, by winning the championship.

 

Rees is a great back and good kid. I suspect whoever signs him get a winner.

 

 

 

As for the border bowl, its a nice effort by some folks to promote football. Obviously, if you have Hayden, McShara and others in the backfield you run the ball and then you run it some more.

 

The QB for our team could have been a 3rd string backup and it should have gone just fine.

 

Does anyone really care about the border bowl, its played outside in January, therefore the answer is no. Should we care, probably not, if we coach the game as bad as it sounds, we shouldn't waste a players time and risk injury if we put a product like that on the field. If Rees couldn't benefit from a game like this, who can? Lots of time, money and effort has to go into to this thing and with three days practice who really wins anything.

Yes, we should care. It is competition for our high school kids against a rival state.

I as a pure fan care. If not I would not have spent the money or loss of production time to attend the game. We looked forward to watching Rees and Grant play in an all star game.

 

The Kentucky team could have, would have, and should have, been better if not for some very closed minded coaching.
