I would agree with you about how KY fans MIGHT REACT...however, this situation hasn't happened yet to UK.

 

On the flip side, what has happened in Knoxville since I made my comments? Riots perhaps?

 

I lived within 20 miles of the UT campus for 5 years...I have a little understanding of how they react. They are very passionate about their football program, and this snotty nosed brat (insert Kiffin) has rained on their parade.:clap:

Kiffin has a career 12-21 record and has been able land the coaching job at two of them best programs in the country. I will never figure that out.

 

UT will look to hire David Cutliff (spelling) away from DUKE.

The ex Vols coaches/USCs have contacted the Vol verbals and asked them to look at USC. This would make me madder than anything. Already two verbals have decommitted. Nine were already to enroll into the school to start classes. The NCAA is still doing work on the Vols using the ladies in recruiting.

I do not like UT, but they deserved better than this. I really feel for the UT fans right now.

When Tubby left UK for Minnesota, he told Patterson that UK would still be a great fit for him, even before the new coach was hired. The reason? He recruited Pat to play at UK while being paid at UK. Class.

 

Kiffin contacting recruits to look at his new school before the fresh paint on his UT office is even dry? What a classless little John Gruden wanna-be weasel. IF USC violated any rules the result in harsh penalties as some seem to think could be coming, I hope that Kiffin is left holding the bag.

I waited until this morning to post on this subject as I didn't want to respond in anger. I was mad for about an hour last night, then decided that I had just wasted 59.9 minutes. I must admit that I was liking how Kiffin was changing up my Vols, but I also must now admit that I was very wrong in my opinion of him. For him to leave with the circumstances like this clearly shows how much character he has - zero! I've been told by many fans of other SEC schools that my Vols were headed toward a problem and didn't want to believe it (I was wrong again and they were right).

 

It will be interesting to see how circumstances turn out with USC now. Oregeron's calling the early enrollees last night and telling them not to go to class today so they can accept a scholarship to USC was even more classless. I suspect the NCAA will take note of this with interest as they decide on penalties for the school. There will be interesting developments in LA in the next few months. The California Supreme Court ruled last week that the Reggie Bush Deal with the agent (the issue that is causing the NCAA investigation) cannot be settled with "confidential arbitration". This means that Bush, Pete Carroll, and even Kiffin and Oregeron since they were there at USC when this happened can now be subpoenaed into a testimony that relate to this case. The NCAA had no powers to compel this testimony but they will be able to use any information that comes out of these proceedings. It's interesting that the timing of Pete Carroll leaving was so close to this ruling! It also proves the Biblical principle about the "love of money being the root of all evil".

 

The next few weeks will be interesting!

I'm sure it helps that he is able to bring in one of the best offensive minds in the history of the game in Chow, one of the greatest defensive minds in the game's history in his father, and a great recruiter like Orgeron.

I see your point, but not exactly apples to apples, Jim. I don't think that UT has the history with USC that UK and Duke has. Good think is I highly doubt this will happen...

Wasn't the immediate reaction in Lexington to Pitino's announcement he was taking the Celtics job pretty nasty? Perhaps not to the degree it's been in Knoxville, but weren't there a few couches burned?

I don't remember any couches burning, but do remember that many were upset. However, most realized the great things that Pitino had done for UK and had to realize that while he said it wasn't about the money, ... it is almost always about the money. And the Celtics offered him HUGE money. I think it bothered many UK fans more when he took the job at UL then when he left UK.

 

But Pitino did so much more for UK than Kiffin did for UT. While I think on the field, he did a good job at UT, this move is just horribly ill timed and what they have done with the UT recruits shows his lack of class or loyalty for who paid him to recruit those players in the first place.

 

Pitino may be many things, but he is a proven coach. Kiffin, as of yet, is not. In the long run, UT may be better off with him gone. In fact, I am sure of it.

I think Lane should be able to go after his recruits. Most of the guys UT was getting where coming for Lane, Monte and Co. anyway IMO. Just as Cal was able to take his players, Kiff should be able to as well.

 

I see why people are so mad, but you don't turn down USC IMO. I mean, can we really even compare the two schools? The job came open late and he was offered. He took it like almost all of us would have. UT should stop crying. If you sign a good coach and you're not one of the biggest fish in the pond, there's a good chance he's going to get offered alot of jobs in the future.

UT is losing alot (graduation and recruits), they have no real experience at QB other than Stephens who has not been good, if UK can't beat them next year they will never be able to. I understand about kids who haven't yet signed their commitments, but some of these kids were ready to start class this semester, .. today in fact.

 

I guess I have to admit that my disgust for Kiffin makes this seem even worse for me than it probably should.
