January 13, 201016 yr I thought it would be him, Sarkisian or Del Rio. Better job for him and he doesn't have Fla/Geo + the rest every year. I think he realized fast how tough it is in the SEC East. IMO Peterson has a better job at Boise St. He's a shoe in almost for the BCS instead of fighting the big boys every year. I hope Mike Leach doesn't take it as a KY fan.
January 13, 201016 yr Police on campus in Knoxville. Apparently the student body is not taking the news well...
January 13, 201016 yr Is the student body on Campus? I am sure it doesn't take students to act a fool with this situation...Lane better pack quick!

January 13, 201016 yr WOW!!!!! I Love it!!! Me too. It made me a USC fan. I'll pull for them in the Pac 10 now. Seriously, I like Kiffin and if he stays clean he will continue the USC powerhouse. Chow and Monte Kiffin? Wow. Of the top 14 players in NCAA career passer efficiency, Chow has tutored 8 of them. Barkley would be a fool to leave. Look for Boise State's coach Chris Peterson to move to Knoxville. -Isn't there something with his sick son to where he doesn't want to leave Boise? -Also he has only coached away from the West Coast area for one season. He's better off on the West side of the United States. Boise could end up as a Pac 10 school, so no reason to leave IMO. Kirby Smart to be the interim. Georgia wanted him to be their DC... don't know how that will work out. Wow, that had to be some bad info you got. Kirby leaves Bama for the interim job at UT? No chance.
January 13, 201016 yr Kiffin better get out of town quick...I would say that his life will be threatened!! Interesting how this comment has gone without a single response. Guess it all depends on whose fan base we're talking about when it comes to this kind of stuff. I wonder what the reaction would be if Calipari were to leave for North Carolina or Duke or somewhere like that after this season? :sssh:

For what its worth Rick Pitino taking the Louisville job is about as egregious a sin as could be committed in a lot of nutty UK fans eyes and I don't recall any rioting or Pitino reporting any death threats, do you?

I'm pretty sure that had Pitino left Lexington directly for Louisville things would be a lot different. And let's not act like there are no similarities between the UT and UK fan bases. okie's comment was no different than mine -- that's why it's relevant to this thread. I got crucified, while his just slides by, strictly because of whose feelings were getting hurt, and you know it.

I saw nothing wrong with Jim's comment and thought it was pretty accurate. JMO, but I didn't take it as a shot at UK.

I got crucified, while his just slides by, strictly because of whose feelings were getting hurt, and you know it. First okie's comment was "He better get out of town fast his life might be threatened" or something to that effect. He made no mention of what would happen if Calipari left UK for Duke or North Carolina. He made no mention of UK in any way. UT students have already been shown running down the middle of Cumberland Avenue so Kiffin receiving threats isn't too farfetched. As for similarities between UT and UK fans--as I said Pitino took the job as head coach of UK's most hated rival and he's never once mentioned receiving any threats since he took the job. The UK student body certainly never flooded Limestone Street and marched downtown in protest. And I'm pretty sure that any tempering of emotions by Pitino stopping by the Celtics for a few seasons was overwhelmed by him taking a job at UL. As for the UT situation, it isn't like UT and USC are bitter rivals or anything. It was a completely unnecessary comment regarding UK fans on your point that had no relevance in this thread as was just designed to provoke UK supporters. The UT coaching job has no bearing on UK fans and as for how it would have went down if Pitino would have left UK for UL--that's all speculation on your part. In reality the reaction was nothing like this. He got booed and there was the infamous Joanne we didn't like you either sign. I know you'd love for UK fans to do something like UT fans are doing but sadly for you, it hasn't happened. Nice try to spin this into another indictment of the UK fanbase.
January 13, 201016 yr Hogwash. It's a double standard and you know it. I have zero doubt Calipari would be in deep danger if he announced on April 15 he were headed to Duke to replace Coach K.
January 13, 201016 yr I saw nothing wrong with Jim's comment and thought it was pretty accurate. JMO, but I didn't take it as a shot at UK. Okay, then while we're at it how about this? Let's say Calipari leaves UK to take an NBA job after this season and Pitino left UL to return to UK. What do you thing UL fans reaction would be to that, Jim?

What do you thing UL fans reaction would be to that, Jim? I'd say good riddance because I don't like him, and never have. I'd venture to say a lot of UofL fans, in light of the events that have been made public in the past year, would feel the same. And even if it were the NBA and not Duke, as in your hypothetical, I would venture Calipari would still be in danger (unless it had already come to light that the NCAA hammer was coming down).
