January 11, 201016 yr Per the LA Times: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/sports_blog/2010/01/pete-carroll-to-take-seattle-seahawks-coaching-position.html
January 11, 201016 yr The NCAA must be getting ready to put the hammer down on USC football, as well :thumb:
January 11, 201016 yr This spells some bad news for the Trojans and whoever their new coach is. Something needs to be done about the whole discipline process of this sort of thing. How is it fair if Carroll recruited Bush and paid for stuff and so on and the new coach who may abide by the rules is punished? It makes no sense and makes the NCAA look very bad that they punish the wrong people in these situations.
January 11, 201016 yr Taking a chapter from the Bobby Petrino Book of Departure, USC players learned of Carroll's departure via text from an assistant.
January 11, 201016 yr Taking a chapter from the Bobby Petrino Book of Departure, USC players learned of Carroll's departure via text from an assistant. Stay classy Pete!
January 11, 201016 yr So what college program will Pete be resurrecting here in the next couple of years?
January 11, 201016 yr So what college program will Pete be resurrecting here in the next couple of years? Penn State?

If you put a program on probation you should have to sit out a minimum of 2 years from coaching in the NCAA or NFL IMO. If the players are going to be punished, so should the coaches. I like Pete, but he should have had to wait until the NCAA made their ruling. He gets a free pass out of town, and a nice raise. It remains to see what will happen to USC, outside of losing their coach.
January 11, 201016 yr IF USC is in trouble I have a MAJOR problem with the way it's handled. Instead of the coaching paying the penalty it's the University + the kids left behind. Same deal at UK with Mumme. I hope the assistant just spilled the beans before Pete could. Classless if not! I love Pete's passion and what he brought to the game. Bad deal for college football IMO.
January 11, 201016 yr This is crazy. I love how coaches can just up and leave their contracts when a school is probably going to get in some trouble with their recruiting. Peter is going to get off scot free, oh and by the way, get a 2 mil raise and run an NFL franchise. Way to go NCAA!! If this school does get some sanctions, they will have a tough time trying to find a replacement.
January 11, 201016 yr Probably not a bad choice in teams to go in the NFL:bad division, Warner talking retirement, not much to compete with in the area.
January 11, 201016 yr Will he hire Norm Chow as his OC?Nope ... he's bringing USC's offensive coordinator with him, plus Ken Norton Jr. as the linebackers coach.
January 11, 201016 yr Nope ... he's bringing USC's offensive coordinator with him, plus Ken Norton Jr. as the linebackers coach. Bates former Broncos OC. According to an article I just read.
January 11, 201016 yr The uncertainty of probation seems to be limiting SC's choices for a replacement.
