January 11, 201016 yr Hearsay, you haven't chimed in much about this situation. As a USC fan, what do you think about it? Oh yeah, DragonFire...nice avatar, lol.
January 11, 201016 yr So how much control does he really get in Seattle? He'll likely get his voice heard when it comes to who to draft... I don't see him having a lot of input as far as free agency goes, and I doubt he has final say on any acquisitions.
January 11, 201016 yr So how much control does he really get in Seattle? I saw a few days ago that is was President and Coach. I guess that means he gets to hire the GM? No idea. But also - everyone is talking about coaches leaving and the NCAA hitting teams after that. Although Calipari's situation is much different than the one a few other coaches (including Carroll) have been involved with, Cal left UMass for the NBA and Memphis for Kentucky...
January 11, 201016 yr Bates going with him. I wouldn't be suprised if Pat Kirwin isn't involved somehow.
January 12, 201016 yr Big loss for SC. I thought Sanchez's comments after the Bengals game were funny.
January 12, 201016 yr The uncertainty of probation seems to be limiting SC's choices for a replacement. Exactly! The filling of this position might take a while because of that.
January 12, 201016 yr The Jets, the Patriots and now the Seahawks. I guess third time is a charm, perhaps. If not, the 12th man in Seattle will be hard to win over. His NFL career isn't as bad as most would think though, making it to the playoffs twice out of four attempts with a 33-31 record. Overall record as Head Coach: 130-50.
January 12, 201016 yr Hearsay, you haven't chimed in much about this situation. As a USC fan, what do you think about it? Oh yeah, DragonFire...nice avatar, lol. Fight On. I believe Pete when he says he always had his eye back to the NFL. I thought he was going to leave after the loss in the 2006 Rose Bowl to Texas, in fact, the on-campus paper had him leaving at that time. So, it should not be a shock to the faithful. I am more concerned about the departure of Damian Williams. I thought Matt Barkley has handled it gracefully, a future star in the making. We need to find some lineman. While certainly Pete revived a stagnant program, USC football, and its tradition has always been greater than any one coach or player, or even group of players, and I still believe the job (NCAA meetings looming or not) is one of the great jobs in all of college sports and that recruits will continue to flock there even if Will Ferrell is no longer invited to practice. The on-campus Tweeting has mentioned the name Bronco Mendenhall.
