Jets 24 Bengals 14

Forget Graham, as kickers come & go; but Brat is a serious joke, and it really showed in this game. After watching the Bengal's debacle, I tuned in on the Cowboys-Eagles game, and while I'm not a big supporter of either; watching the Cowboy's "O" vs. Cincy's, was like seeing a quality AAU basketball team vs. an 8th grade "B" team? The schemes were frightfully amatuerish vs. professional. I've long believed Brat is clueless, but yesterday clinched the deal. I also believe that something is physically wrong with Palmer's arm? He throws totally different than previously, won't step into his throws, and his accuracy is awful. My take is fix him, or replace him; in the NFL the future is now!!

The Bengals have long been a team that plays "not to lose" vs. one that "plays to win". Obviously not going to get the ownership change that's needed, but unless something is done to fix the offense; next year will be back to the mundane!!

There has been word tonight about his elbow and the cold.

Good post :thumb:

I really think some of if not all of Carson's problems were they didn't let him get a good feel for passing the ball. They were so bent on making this a running team that they didn't let the passing game get going enough. IMO they should have passed to set up the run instead of the opposite. Also, when they did pass it he only trusted 85 after Henry got hurt and that was painfully obvious. They need to figure out if the NFL is now a passing league or if running the ball and playing great D is still the way to the title. No matter what they have to at least be capable of passing it and they weren't. All in all it's tough to be disapointed when a team goes from 4 to 10 wins and dominates the division that had the two AFC finalists last year no matter who wants to argue they weren't the best division this year. I'd still take the AFC North as the toughest by the way.

What word about his elbow? I read where Carson said his elbow is 100%.

Quite honestly, it's a shame to hear that. I would much rather have heard he needed surgery on his throwing elbow to help explain away some of the inaccuracy and inconsistency.

Just an obvservation, did anyone else notice Shayne Graham was not wearing sleeves? Who is he kidding? Plus, the kicker should be the warmest guy on the field.

Not to mention I was tailgaiting for an hour before he showed up to the stadium. Just saying....

Something about it in the cold Mike Martin was saying.

Good post. Carson is a guy who seems like you need to get him in a rhythm early. He has even mentioned that in the past. He talked about how he liked how Norm Chow at USC, would come out passing early and have a lot of quick easy throws to start the game and that would really get him in a rhythm.

Carson has struggled some, but I think to many people expect him to do what he did in 05 and 06 and don't realize a lot of things has changed on this team since then. We have one good receiver and that is Chad and he is getting older. The offense is very predictable. I mean when is the last time we have seen one of our guys get open, by a busted coverage or something? It just don't happen, its because our route combinations don't confuse anybody. This team has to address the WR and TE position this off season, and IMO need to go back to being pass first. People seem to think if we go pass first that we wouldn't run the ball. Well Rudi Johnson still ran for 1400 yards when we were pass first in 2005. Benson is ten times the running back that Rudi Johnson is, so if Rudi could still get that much. Then Benson could get even more.

If the team can upgrade the WR and TE position and go back to opening it up. (Which having a new OC would help) Then I think we would see Carson back to what he once was.

^ Where is Norm Chow at now? He has a great offensive mind. A lot of coaches copy what he does.

UCLA offensive coordinator.

I don't think we have to be pass first, but we have to be less predictable and have the ability to make plays over the top with a WR and in the middle of the field with a tight end. Pass first is not necessary, but it needs to be way less predictable.

You are right it doesn't have to be pass first, but with a few additions to the offense, and a new offensive coordinator. That right there could end up making this a very good offense again IMO.

I know its probably not a good possibility, since this guy has won a Super Bowl as a head coach and probably would only come back for a head coaching position. However I would love if the Bengals could get Brian Billick as their offensive coordinator. He is someone who knows a lot about the AFC North, and he would actually for the first time have a QB with some talent to run his system.

Possibly true, but he has to have more people he believes in than Chad. Nobody gets any seperation and Carson missed too many throws this year. They need to get him going early and often next year or find someone capable of hitting WR's.

And would make the running game even more dangerous.
