January 10, 201016 yr Just in from the game... man that sucked. I said after the Pittsburgh game a few years ago Graham has to go. He is not clutch he cannot beat the mental barrier it seems. When he trotted out for the 2nd kick he had no confidence. We desperately need a 2nd WR. But why Palmer is not in sync with this offense is very alarming considering how long he has been in the league. Sanchez was the better QB today. Cedric was a blessing but this offense died in the middle of the year.
January 10, 201016 yr The NFL is all about taking advantage of NOW. They were rolling along showing that, for a while, they were legit. They then stunk up the joint for the last month and showed that they can't get it done. "Young" in the NFL means 22 to 25. How many players do we have that we can count on that fall into that "young" category? Johnathan Joseph, Leon Hall, Keith Rivers, Rey Mauluaga, Michael Johnson, Robert Geathers are all young. That is just on defense. Andre Caldwell, Bernard Scott, Quan Cosby, Andre Smith, Anthony Collins offensively. Add them to Cedric Benson who was one of the top RB's in the league this year and OchoCinco who is a top 10 - 15 WR in the NFL. The Bengals are a few playmakers short, but to overlook this team's foundation is foolish.

Something is not right there. Some say Carson is not the same post Kimo.
January 10, 201016 yr Remember the 05 Team? They really built on that... Oh and they were a young team them Huge difference. That team was very lucky defensively and relied on a high powered offense & turnovers. Those ingredients don't work well when January rolls around. This year's version was a smashmouth type of team with a solid defense. We came up short, but it's the right recipe.
January 10, 201016 yr If winning the toughest division in football is mediocrity then maybe it's time to be a Colts or Patriots fan eh? Its debatable on which division is the toughest. Unfortunately for the Bengals you have to beat someone outside of your division to make a Super Bowl. For all the talk about their sparkling division record they finished 4-7 against the rest of the NFL.

He still has 6 good years left.
January 10, 201016 yr Also missed a bullet...... coaching... we used all of our challenges in the first quarter and the first one was a waste.
January 10, 201016 yr Could be true but we need a QB who is comfortable with on offensive system for it all to work. Something is not right there. Its as much Palmer as it is the system. Sadly, it looks like the injuries have kept hiim from fulfilling the early potential it looks like he had. He's simply an average NFL quarterback at this point. You can win with him but he's not going to be the one to make the plays that win the game most of the time.
January 10, 201016 yr Ced just turned 27, and you can take off two years that he really didn't play much. He still has 6 good years left. No way with his style he has 3 good years left and 3 servicable.
January 10, 201016 yr Also missed a bullet...... coaching... we used all of our challenges in the first quarter and the first one was a waste. I think we need to get used to this coaching staff. They do everything Mike Brown wants. They aren't going anywhere for a while.
January 10, 201016 yr And our Bengals tied the Giants. Thats thing. It really doesn't matter who ya beat. It matters that you win enough games to make the playoffs, and then be good enough to win in the playoffs. The Bengals have not been able to do that since 1990. The Bengals tied the Eagles, not the Giants. The Bengals & Giants may have gone into OT. I think that was the game Palmer hurt his elbow.
January 10, 201016 yr Disappointing, but at the end of the day, this season was still more successful than ANYONE predicted backed in August. I think what makes things seem a bit more disappointing right now than it really is is that we realize that the Bengals will fail to make the right moves to build upon this year's successes and correct the obvious weaknesses. Given their draft position, it would take a very agressive and intelligent ownership to keep this ship headed in the right direction and that type of ownership does not exist in Cincinnati. The passing game is going to take ALOT of fixing - pretty darn tough to improve your WR corps, TE position, possibly QB position, and OC mindset in one off-season. The QB position must be seriously addressed. Palmer is average at best. His inaccuracy is staggering and his immobility requires too much perfection from the OL. Nonethleless, we were watching our home team play a meaningful game in January! Pretty cool IMO.
January 10, 201016 yr No way with his style he has 3 good years left and 3 servicable. He runs around the edge just as much as he runs up the middle. The O line will determine how many years he has.
January 10, 201016 yr He runs around the edge just as much as he runs up the middle. The O line will determine how many years he has. That 30 year old barrier is usually pretty firm in football no matter how many carries you have. It would be foolish to count on him being a top tier running back for 6 more years. He's a big back, those kind of guys tend to flame out quicker.
