They had hired a lawyer out of Lexington but the KHSAA successfully had it moved from a state case to a federal case and that put a delay on the case which effectively ended his high school football career. Still has yet to be heard in court and likely will not ever be. Lots of bad blood between his family/Boyle County and Sam Harp.

PP, how has Dunn helped for the Boyle County team? Both of Garrard's games against Boyle came before he was eligible so I haven't seen him play. Has he been a big contributor or more of a bit player?

He has helped the team quite a bit. He makes us a meaner team(which is excellent because all of our boys are way too nice) and he is a beast on the boards. He was starting for a little while and then he got pink eye and missed a game and he has come off of the bench the last two games. He has shown the ability to score in spurts and he and Micah seem to be the only ones who can consistently penetrate to the bucket. He is just now rounding into basketball shape and hopefully that will carry us into the regional tourney.

That's good to hear. It's been a long wait for the young man and I'm glad he's getting to play. I think that Danville/Boyle game in the first round will be an absolute war. Adding Dunn to the mix should make it all the more exciting. I'm looking forward to getting to host the tournament this year. Should be some great games.

Anyone that knows anything knows that was brought on by the kid himself. Coach Harp is all class and he only dealt with the facts. Dunn said and did some things that he shouldn't have before he left and that came back to bite him. Why do you think this thing quietly went away? They had no leg to stand on!

It went away because Sam Harp finally got a victory over Boyle County. It's been a while since that has happened. Maybe he should try as hard on the field as he did off the field to keep Will from playing. Like I said.....lots of bad blood between Will's family and Boyle County/Harp and probably always will be.

No, that's the problem..No one did their investigation, they based their decisions on what if, and what if never happened

 

I hope that the kids parents did some thorough investigation into this issue. If the kid were to miss his senior season, that would be a tough blow.

Especially, when they are located a few miles away from one another...Come on, if he were aloud to do it everyone with flip flop depending on who was going through a winning streak.

I really don't feel like rehashing all of this again so I'll just say that it'll be interesting next time a kid goes from Boyle County to Danville. Happens every year from middle school to high school and I hope families are prepared to sit out a year from now on.

 

What's funny is that no rules were broken but Sam Harp's name is all over the paperwork doing what he could to prevent him from leaving. I am on the Boyle County side of the fence and I still wish he would have been able to play. I think we proved we didn't need him to win state or to beat Danville(again.....) but I hated to see him miss his senior year. I could care less if kids switched schools. Makes no difference to me but I understand why the rules are in place. It's over now so whatever.

Bad blood had a lot to do with it. The bad blood is the reason he left Danville in the first place.

I thought this thread was shutdown by a moderator a long time ago, it needs to be, and evrybody move on and concentrate on more positive things. I admit I was in the middle of it last year, and it was a mistake on my part.

Under current rules, no "transfer" rules apply to a middle school student. Transfer rules only apply to athletes who have attended high school and played in a varsity level contest. I am not looking to continue this thread either but I think it is important that everyone understand the rules. If they did, this situation and this thread would never have happened.
