Will already had scholarship offers. Plus Danville will miss Will next year but last years team was junior and sophomore dominated. Danville always finds a way to replace some one who is missing Danville has had 3 bad years compared to Danville's standards and everyone thinks their reign is over. If people don't remember Boyle county had 3 or 4 bad years in a row and they win one state championship and everyone thinks they are back and Danville is done. Well if you all haven't realized reese was that team last year and no one will be able to replace them. There will be no state championship at Boyle this year.

 

When?

 

2008 13-1 and lost in 4A Semi-Finals

2007 5-7 and lost in 2nd round

2006 6-6 and lost in 2nd round

2005 11-2 and lost in 3rd round

2004 12-3 and lost in state title game

 

So other than 2007 and 2006 I don't see a 3 or 4 bad years in a row. :sssh:

 

There might not be a State title for Boyle in 2010 but I wouldn't say they are out of the hunt by any stretch.

You obviously know nothing about Larry's career and what he has accomplished. Title are not the final measure of a coach, a factor yes, but no the final measure.

I hope that the kids parents did some thorough investigation into this issue. If the kid were to miss his senior season, that would be a tough blow.

How many high schools are in Boyle County? I thought if you transfer you had to sit out a year.

 

There are 2, Boyle and Danville. As to "sitting out" it depends upon a number of circumstances such as residency among others. The KHSAA will have final say and my guess is that the parents probably looked into this deeply before a decision was made.

With All State Lamar Dawson, and Grant Aumiller, to go along with Paul Megilligan, Barsotti, Hester, Cox, Ferrell, Cook, Tritipoe, and others Boyle would not have gotten number 6. Your statement shows how much you really know about any Championship football team. Reese was good, really good, but he alone could not have won a State Championship. Just like any other team sport that wins a Championship, it's takes more than 1 player. If there is no Championship at Boyle in 2010, I'm ok with it because I know you can't win them all. As long as Boyle will contend and be in the hunt, I'm happy.

That is not true at all. I have worked with kids for the past 8 years who got scholarships and were not better than some others that had 0 offers. You have to get your information out there as well. There are over 200 football teams in Kentucky alone. If you figure that there are only 40 on each team, that is 8,000 kids. You think any college coach knows about all those teams and all those kids and their ability to play? The smaller schools also don't have the recruiting budgets that the larger schools have and are often limited to a much smaller geographic area.

 

Just because you are a good player doesn't mean that college coaches have no idea who you are and if you can play. How many college scouts do you see at the average high school game?

 

You may have to get info out to NAIA, DIII and DII schools if you are a borderline player. Then ACT, GPA and class rank become very important.If you are anywhere good enough to play DI they will find you.

What has caused Danville's fall from grace?? I mean they are a traditional powerhouse...now kids are leaving for greener pastures?

Agreed. Everyone will be very suprised with all the talent returning. Boyle County will be a power running football team next year. All 3 running backs will be over 200 pounds, in Dawson, Cook and Dunn. And again Defense will be the reason Boyle is succesful.

I agree. I think it's funny that people think that since Rees is gone we won't be any good, or not able to contend. The meat of the defense is back, along with the same scheme and the defensive coordinator and Devin Cox could get carries along with Dunn, Cook and Dawson. Devin Hale is not a bad qb at all(throws a great ball) and while we may not score 49 points a game, I still expect to beat most if not all teams we play and eventually meet up with Bell County for the right to go to BG, but I am early in this discussion....the Boyle County 2010 thread isn't up yet.

 

I will add that regardless of whether Will Dunn is eligible or not, my expectations on the season will not change. Same as if he is ruled eligible. His addition helps us, but it won't make us. I hope everything works out for him. Any word on if it's true that his mom moved or is moving out of the area? If no one knows for sure, I'll use my double secret probation tactics to find out the truth.:sssh:
