Dunbar really hasn't had as much success as people like to believe. Hopefully they will make a good hire and the new coach can build this program into the one that it could/should be.

A quick glance at Dunbar's playoff history shows they have made 14 appearances, compiling a record of 20-14. Their deepest advance was as state runner-up in 1996. They lost twice in the state semifinals (2002 & 2003) and three times in a regional final (1997, 2000 & 2005).

There is a HUGE difference in being a coach at class A LCA and 6A Dunbar.

The new coach has connections to the college of the Cumberlands. One staff member will be a former Danville stand out who also played at The Cumberlands.

Just because you coached at a good program, doesnt mean you were the big reason that program was successful.

17 years experience and 30 playoff wins means this guy has been associated with winning programs. Plus over half of those playoff wins came while he was at Henry Clay where he served as both an offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator. During that time he compiled several wins over Dunbar. He also spent time coaching in college and he was part of an NAIA staff that beat the team that this other coach was a part of. I just think it is a shame that this qualified candidate didn't even get an interview. He might not be the only reason for success at LCA but he coordinated an offense that scored 40 something points a game, so yes I think he was a big part of their success. One of the big differences between coaching at LCA and Dunbar is that the parents at LCA want to win and support the program but let the coaches coach. At Dunbar the parents just mettle and think they know more than the coaches.

I'd be willing to bet LCA would've beaten Dunbar the last few years. I wouldn't knock their accomplishments.

Sorry, wasn't trying to get into a debate over classes and all this. I was originally responding to a previous question of "What has Henderson done lately?" while at Henderson has this guy accomplished anything? I was just saying the coach I speak of has had lots of succcess on all levels of football, nothing more.
