January 4, 201016 yr That is one heck of a man. One tough son of a gun, yet still has a lot of class. He will be greatly missed by the UK football family. Agreed.
January 4, 201016 yr I did not agree with the hire when it happened but always defending giving Brooks a chance after he was here. Nothing I hate more then a program that hires and fires coaches every couple of years. UK gave Brooks the time he deserved and he made all UK fans proud. He will be greatly missed. I also don't agree with giving Joker the job, and thought it was a bad idea when they named him HC in waiting. However, it is what it is and all UK fans need to give Joker their support. I hope he can continue to build on what Brooks has done here. One positive is Joker has been apart of building UK into what it is so I think he will work extremely hard to achieve the continued success. Same here. :thumb:
January 4, 201016 yr I was wrong about Brooks, even joking that I wanted him to stay forever.....he did a great job.....now come the Joker era.....wonder how that'll work... We're about to find out.

That raises an interesting question...how much time does Joker deserve? The situation he inherits is much different than his predecessor. UK is still fighting and scratching to stay above .500, but they're obviously in much better shape than when Brooks stepped in. Will the expectations for Joker be reasonable? If UK has a couple of 7-6 seasons under Joker in his first two years, will that be viewed as good or bad? :idunno:
January 4, 201016 yr Will be interesting to see where the program goes from here. Brooks will be missed alot I think.

He is a tremendous recruiter and it will be interesting to see if he gives up the mantle as the O Coordinator with his new duties as head coach. I certainly hope that most of the staff stays (including but not limited to Steve Brown, Randy Sanders, Chuck Smith, etc).
January 4, 201016 yr As Florida fan admire Coach Brooks think he did about all he could do with the talent he had. Yes there were some games he could have won but all teams have that happen. Hats off from Gator fan to a fine man and football coach.

I don't know if the expectation for Joker is to maintain the program where it is today, or continue on advancing... I know what the preference would be, but I'm not exactly sure that's the expectation.
January 4, 201016 yr I was one that wasn't crazy about the hire. I thought he did an outstanding job of surrounding himself with good coaches! He totally changed my mind while he was there. He did a great job and I appreciate him! I wish him the best of luck in his next journey of life. I think we all need to sit back and let Joker do his thing before we judge him. My hope is he gets an offensive coordinator. He seems to be a really good recruiter which is the key along with surrounding yourself with good football people. Best of luck to him! I hope Gerad Parker and Dontae Wright are brought back on staff if there is a way to get them there.

I know what the preference would be, but I'm not exactly sure that's the expectation. I have a feeling that Joker may not get an extended grace period. If they falter any, he'll take heat, and he'll likely take some heat if he can only maintain the status quo for the first couple of years.
January 4, 201016 yr I'm going to miss CRB...I have always been a fan of him, And like most, Have complained at times, But never wanted him gone..
January 4, 201016 yr Good luck to Coach Brooks. I am not his biggest fan, however what he did at UK was great. Who would have picked UK in 4 straight bowls. However I feel like UK is making a major mistake by naming Joker the coach. He recieved this title two years ago when the UK offense was tops in the nation with Woodson and Company. Since then the UK offense has falterd. I feel like UK has the opportunity with recent success to lure a big name coach into Lexington that has the credintials to take UK to the next level.
January 4, 201016 yr He sure was a site to see on the sidelines during a game....Always had a smile on my face

I personally think if he can maintain what Brooks has done that is about all that can be expected. Let's face it, everything being as it is UK just isn't built to be a 9-4 or better team. They just don't put the money into the program. They schedule enough cake non conference teams to make a bowl and keep everyone happy.
