I saw Zeke play a couple times his frosh year. I thought he was the best qb I saw at the freshman level. He has a ton of potential with his size and arm strength. JMO

I have not heard a word about Pike playing anything other than QB and will be very, very surprised if he doesn't play QB. If I were coaching Dixie, he would be my QB. The kid is a playmaker.

 

I haven't heard any thing either. I was just wondering if Dixie needs O linemen next year (I don't know if that is the case) and if Dixie has some one else capable of playing QB and TE (perhaps not as well as Pike, but well enough to get the job done) does Tom move Pike for the overall betterment of the team?

I think you and I both agree that games are won in the trenches, so I see where you are coming from. But it isn't often you would move a QB to the line. Maybe an end or fullback or bring over a defensive player but I don't see moving the player who is your best QB. Correct. If I remember correctly, he barely played in the Conner game because of this. However, he did get much better by the end of the season. He's better suited for a DE, but they had two solid seniors there. When Zumdick went down with a season ending knee injury, I thought Pike would move up to the line, but he didn't.

Plus O'Toole played safety, so there wasn't as much physical assertion on the defensive side as Pike would be getting at DE or LB. I just don't see him playing defense next year. My main basis on that is if Wilson didn't play it, Pike isn't going to play it. Wilson, IMO, would've been a great safety the past couple years.

The line could be a big question for Dixie next season. They have a couple of sophomores, and maybe 3 juniors that saw some time last year at the varsity level but unfortunately for Dixie this could be an area where they have to have some kids going both ways, unless some of the younger guys step up.

 

Pike will be the QB and I think has the potential to be an outstanding QB.

Word around Dixie is that Corbin DeMatteo is going to play football for his senior year. Did he not play QB as a sophomore?

 

I think Pike will be the QB but this just could put another name in the list and if Pike is the QB who is his back up?

 

Dematteo is too small to play wide reciever. Word going around is he will play running back.

Pike will be at quarterback this year. I think he brings a whole new mentality to the team, he's a winner and always has been. I watched the kid play JV quarterback last year and he impressed me way more than Wilson did. Dixie could have made the switch last year and put wilson at wide out.

 

Dixie can have a very dangerous offense this year!

This may be heresy to some, but is there any chance Pike moves to offensive tackle? With his height, he could be an outstanding offensive tackle. Might not have quick enough feet (at this stage) to be a D-1 qb, but does have quick enough feet to play D-1 offensive line.

 

From my perspective he is going to be a great quaterback and I know he's getting some attention from some nice schools. Either way a college will find your best fit for you. I think he can be a QB, TE, or even perhaps DE
