Florida 51 Cincinnati 24

Featured Replies

The sec was down some this year but they can still beat a lot of teams. Seems like most of the conferences were overall weaker or should I say more equal.

SEC as a whole was down this season. Florida didn't have the fire power on offense as they did last season. But Still think Bama and Gators are 2 best teams and will find out for sure Jan. 7 when Bama and Texas play. UC had good season but will need more and better players to play with the big boys in college football.

In one game UC:

Killed the Big East's credibility for the 2nd year in a row

Validated why an unbeaten record is meaningless is talking about the NC

Validated Kelly looking to move on

Made the 2nd best team in a down SEC look like world beaters

Proved that Kelly was a master salesman trying to tell us this D was good

Showed that the BCS needs to reconsider how they hand out bow games.

Did anything happen to the Pac 10's credibility? If Bama crushes Texas is the B12 not credible? Was the SEC not terrible except this game in the bowls? Hasn't the B10 or Mountain West or WAC had the best bowl season? Are they the best? Do we really think UC couldn't win the B10 now? Was the SEC not credible when Utah destroyed Bama in this same game last year? I have a few more I think....

Unlike the Big East who is trying to build credibility, some of the others you mention are already there. However, the PAC10 certainly showed that they are a step below the big boys.

UC would not win the Big 10. Now. Next year. Ever. They showed yesterday who the big dog in Ohio is and will be for some time.

Not sure I agree with the "ever" part. 3 years ago no one would have expected them to be at the level they are now. As they continue to attract some of the top recruits, especially from the Cincinnati area, and improve their program, I think they would be more than capable of winning the Big Ten. The Big Ten itself is a shell of what it once was. Of course, UC could always go backwards also, but I think the future looks bright in Clifton. That being said, their defensive issues against legitimate top ten-quality competition is glaring and priority one.

  This team really thought they had a legit arguement to play for the title?? This game wasn't even as close as the blowout score indicates.

Not a bad idea, but ultimately UC could have had Vince Lombardi on the sidelines and they were going to lose. UF was the better team by a wide, wide margin and no coach in the world could have closed that gap. Certainly not Brian Kelly.

I totally agree it didn't matter who was coaching them. I just have a problem with a coach having to sell kids to trust in him and each other. In the biggest game of their lives he is nowhere around. It's not his fault either. Just not right for the Sr's especially IMO.

I agree this is another example why college football needs a playoff system desperatly!

Well there going to have to improve their O and D line for that happen. They would get killed in the trenches. You also have to remember the city of Cincy has two of the best lineman in Ohio and probably top 25 nationally with one already committed to OSU and another one considering OSU. UC can't let this happen.

The future is indeed looking brighter. Last night's game showed that they're not as close to the big boys as some thought or still, for some reason, think.

As much as I hate Tebow, he played great. If Cincy doesn't put together a defense there's not a chance they'll ever beat a top SEC team.

The Bowl people really mess up by pairing UF with UC,it should have been UF vs TCU and UC vs Bosie St.JMO

That's funny. OSU lost at Purdue. I think UC would beat Purdue anywhere in the world. OSU's QB was so terrible all year that some of their fans wanted him to change positions and while they were at it they wanted Tressel fired. Now they win one game against a decent team all year and they are great again. Do people forget the way Oregon was embarassed at Boise? The P10 has been atrocious in bowls and all of a sudden OSU is better than UC. If Kelly had stayed and Meyer didn't get rushed to the hospital would Florida have been as inspired and UC have been as lost? Florida is better and has better atletes and they played as hard as they have all year. That doesn't discredit UC IMO. If OSU is the big dog in Ohio why did they run back to Columbus w/ their tails between their legs refusing to play in PBS?

I think Florida rolls anyone in any bowl this year after Meyer resigned. TCU, Boise, Texas, and Bama included.

I can't figure out the multi-quote or I would have done it to my last post. I had just said this to someone else today. I whoever Florida played last night or anytime during this bowl season they would have beat them about the same they did to UC. Maybe not as bad if they played Alabama but anyone else I think they would have. I just think Tebow and the senior class was on a mission.
