I kind of hope Brooks comes back for one more year though.

 

I do too, nothing against Joker. I'm just not ready for Coach Brooks to retire just yet. A 2009 season that ended with a 4th straight bowl appearance, 7-6 overall and 4 of those losses were by 8 pts or less.

Some observations from the game:

 

1. Locke did not appear to be running as hard as usual, especially in the first half.

2. Newton is a good runner going north and south, would have like to see more QB draws for him.

3. The UK WR's need to be upgraded or improve.

4. A fake run, step back throw(like the one UF runs) down the middle of the field out of the wildcat could have resulted in a huge play that UK badly needed.

5. The safety(#2)for Clemson had to be the MVP.

6. Thought UK should have run straight at the Clemson defense more than they did.

7. The fumble was obviously critical, but did not cost UK the game since the Cats probably would not have scored again anyway.

8. If I was calling the plays against UK, I would throw more to the backs and TE than Clemson did.

9. Looks like Hartline is finished at UK.

10. UK needs a TE who is a legitimate threat down the field.

I too thought Locke did not run hard, especially in the 1st half. Newton is just not very good, but Cobb had a couple of drops and Mathews had one too. McCaskill's fumble was a killer. UK needs a good TE asap. WR's need to step it up. Still thought Micah could have done more. Most of his tackles are 5 yards downfield. Lindley did not play well at all. He and Micah are both overrated. I sure hope Coach Brooks is not done. I'm not ready for the Joker era anyway. I hope Mossakowski is ready by Spring and is much better than Newton and/or Hartline. UK has got to get a passing game. Oh well, the best team won last night but still a great run by the Cats. Hit the weightroom guys and get ready for another run at a 5th consecutive Bowl. :thumb:

He looked to me like he ran much better than he did during the regular season. That could be because he ran more north/south than he did before, but he always seemed plodding to me in the regular season, while he had a little more speed this time. Not enough to get that extra yard at the end, but he looked better.

I think Kentucky is going to have to do a better job of recruiting skill players who actually play the position. Cobb, McCaskill, King, and Locke were all quarterbacks in high school. I'd like to see them start landing some receivers who are actual receivers. McCaskill's fumble and Cobb's drop were huge in this game. Matthews, a legit WR, had a nice touchdown catch. You can only convert so much....

1. Attendance stated 57,897, the stadium holds 68,700. There were not 57,000 people there IMO.

2. Nashville is a great city.

3. Did I see where this will no longer be the Music City Bowl in 2010, it will be a Mortgage Company Bowl?

4. For the 1 millionith time we run the Wildcat, Cobb still doesn't get to hand it off and Clemson recognized that all night long. We have one play out of Wildcat basically, Cobb run right or left.

5. We throw down field twice. Once was a TD, the other was a bad decision on Newton's part and keyed in on Cobb when there was an obvious TD had he thrown it to Matthew's I believe. Wide Open. Yet we throw 2-3 yard routes all night when we need 7-8 yards.

6. Terrible game management by coaches, not sure who is responsible but I understand burning a TO to get a punt into the wind but, bottom line that whole series was a WASH.

7. I was 15 rows from the field on the 50 and felt like there was no atmosphere there.

8. Brooks, please stay. Pretty please.

9. Surprised Seiber hit his FG's. That is a positive.

10. Are our QB's taught not to run the ball when there is nothing but green in front of them? So many times when we attempt a pass on 2nd down Newton throws incomplete when there was at least 6-7 yards to gain on a rush.

11. All of Clemson's players look lean and tall, and fast.

12. Over-rated = Lindley

13. Moncell Allen = Under-rated.

UK was down in field goal range when they went for it on 4th down. Tough to say what would have happened since they only would have been down one point.

It will still be the Music City Bowl. But not the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl. It will be the Franklin American Mortgage Company Music City Bowl.

UK was down in field goal range when they went for it on 4th down. Tough to say what would have happened since they only would have been down one point.

 

They were facing the wind and no way would've Sieber had the leg to kick into that wind, it was stopping some balls in mid air during punts. If it was indeed the 4th down I'm thinking of in the 2nd half.

UK just couldn't score enough IMO.

Average SEC Corner? He was 3rd team All-America is Sophomore year and 2nd team All-America his junior year.

 

It is a shame that some UK fans don't appreciate this guy. He could have left and been a high pick, but came back and tried to help our team. He is the best corner to come through here in awhile and will be greatly missed.
