December 24, 200916 yr I would love to make this game a yearly thing. Like the UNC game, just add Duke too. Anyone think that would be a good idea???
December 24, 200916 yr The only way Duke would do it is if the games were played on a neutral sight. They hardly ever play out of conference road games. The only out of conference road games are the conference challenge games.
December 24, 200916 yr Not me. That would be bad for tv. Just joking. It would be interesting. It would certainly produce high ratings, and especially big if it were in MSG or some place of that stature.
December 24, 200916 yr The only way Duke would do it is if the games were played on a neutral sight. You think Kentucky would go to Cameron? Because I highly doubt it, especially since they go to Chapel Hill, Bloomington, and Louisville every two years.
December 24, 200916 yr Naw I have too much respect for Coach K to embarrass him on National TV.
December 24, 200916 yr Personally, I would rather things stay status quo. I think the games are so much more meaningful when we are on a collision course with Duke in our NCAA bracket. If they played an annual game, I think it would take away from the "mystique" of the matchup and the rivalry. Just my two cents..............and I think that UK's non conference schedule is already very tough year in and year out without Duke.

December 24, 200916 yr Home games make a lot of money, Cats will always have so many guaranteed games.

Teams have to play each other more often than once or twice a decade for it to be considered a "rivalry."

I think you answered your own question. If they go to those other places, why wouldn't they go to Cameron? They also played at Kansas not too long ago.
December 24, 200916 yr Teams have to play each other more often than once or twice a decade for it to be considered a "rivalry."In the truest sense of the definition "rivalry", I agree with you. In the case of Duke/Kentucky, they have a storied history of match-ups and level of prestige about each institution that many still view it a rivalry despite not playing every season. Why the level of disdain UK has for Duke does not equal out on the other end, the juices get flowing from the Duke faithful as well. Do not kid yourself in to the thinking the Blue Devils do view this as "just another team."

IMO Cameron isn't big enough for UK to go to. The place only holds like 10,000 people with most of those already being given to Duke students and alums. 1,000 seats or so just isn't enough for UK to travel for IMO.
December 24, 200916 yr UK-Duke isn't a traditional rivalry, but between the fans I'm sure it is to some degree. Especially on the UK side obviously.
