According to the Courier-Journal, eight (8) of T's free throws were attempted in the last 44.1 seconds. Oftentimes late free throws result from the losing team's fouling in order to get the ball back. I don't know if that was the case in this game but it sounds like it could have been. BTW, Trinity made 7 of the 8.

 

 

So, taking away those 8, that means before the last ~minute of the game, the fouls called were ~22 vs. 16, keeping in mind Park's comments about missed front ends of 1 & 1's, right?

Great win for Trinity. I've been telling my son all along that Sewell is the best player I saw last year. It sounds like he's really playing well again this year. Miami is getting a very good player.

Sewell and Epley are an underrated one-two combo. If they play this well the rest of the season, the Rocks will be hard to beat.

 

27-of-30 is an AMAZING stat, especially for a team with a lot of young players in the supporting cast.

Agree. Corbett is a better team player than the PG from last year. He is a great role player and makes the overall team better than it was last year.

Congrats to Trinity. There is nothing wrong with GRC losing to a very good team like Trinity. That is why you play the good teams to learn about your team and needs. I wouldn't be surprised to see GRC beat Trinity if they meet next week or if GRC and Male meet, I wouldn't be surprised to see Male win. All of these teams are going to get better from playing these kind of games. That is what makes March so great.

Josh Sewell is making a legit case for Mr. Basketball early on.

 

He's averaged probably 25 ppg during the KOB and has been more impressive than any other player in the state IMO.

The vote for Mr. Basketball happens after the State Tourney. No players got the automatic bid (hence commit to UK) thus the race is still as open now as it was before the season started. Lots of hoops to be played yet.

Also, it doesn't matter whether your team makes it to the state tournament or not. See John Hood last year and Stephon Pettigrew in 2006.

They are not just having a good KOB, they have started the year off better than most predicted and I look for them to go far into post season.

I agree, I knew we would lose some games this year with the schedule we have. I am sure we will lose more. The season and these tourney's get you ready for post season. GRC is getting the experience of playing against the top players and teams in the state, ( and out of state) in the KOB. They show teams what they need to improve facing top talent.

 

To be honest we are playing better at this point of the season than I thought we would be. Coach H always has the Cards ready for post season, so I know we are only going to get better. :thumb:

It is great to have a cheerleader on BGP. Sewell is a nice player, but didn't knock my socks off the times I have seen him. He is in a situation however, where an entire offense is run through him so he should put up some good numbers. I agree with Passtheball that when it gets down to tourney time Trinity will be left out once again.

Unfortunately, that will be the only true competition he will face for a while. I think his coach has not scheduled well enough for him to win Mr. Basketball since many outside of his region will continue to question how he would fare against tough teams night in and out.

 

Sewell has been producing against the likes of Ballard, McEachen GA, and Clark Co. while the other big names(Rico,Pittman, Guyn, Jackson, Euton) have been having good games but not outstanding.

 

I agree that it is still early but I don't think you can fault Sewell if he continues to produce like this and Trinity doesn't get out of the district.

 

My guess would be that Trinity, Ballard, and Seneca may be ranked in the top 10 next week.
